OK, I have the 07 service manual. Lots of changes between 07 and 08, but maybe not around the ignition switch.

Near as I can figure, 2007 XB12X...

From the ignition lock:
pin 1 R
pin 2 R/GY
pin 3 R/BK
pin 4 R

Pins 1 and 4 (R) should be common.

Pin 2 (R/GY) goes to the accessory fuse (10 amp, R/GY).

Pin 3 (R/BK) goes to the coil for the key switch relay (R/BK). Another R/BK relay goes from there to the brake / horn / muffler fuse.

The other end of the coil for the key switch relay (BK) appears to be ground.

Pins 1 and 4 on the ignition switch (R) go to the "Key Switch" fuse (15 amp) (R). The other end of that fuse goes to the voltage regulator (R) and to the 30 amp fuse that goes to the battery (R).

So that's that.

The more interesting guess would be the kill switch. That's where my Uly had a cracked wire. I can trace the whole schematic out, but it's easier to just dismantle that bundle right where it goes around the steering neck, tease each wire loose, and pull it through your fingers to feel for where the internal copper strands are broken (but the vinyl insulation remains intact).

Any word?

I caught this too late to be of any help (and my Uly, and its manuals, are '06).

When we got it back safely to the confines - and LIGHT - of my garage I took a closer look at the fuse block. Found the 30 A battery fuse, pulled it out and saw that it was bad. Pulled the one out of the 1125CR and put it in the XT and the XT fired right up. But unless I got extremely lucky, I'm not certain that the fuse is the root cause.

I was riding up 43 - NOT 17 ; ) - and I lost all electrical power. As I was coasting, I turned the ignition switch off and then back on again and had electrics again and the bike started. I did this 2 or 3 times until it was dead as the proverbial doornail. The time before I was stranded, it took a couple of key cycles before the electrics came back.

So unless the 'intermittent failures' just happened to close the fuses circuit again, and the ultimate failure finally left the fuse open, I think there's something else going on.

Any ideas from the collective on what it could be?
1313 <=== obviously NOT a gEEk...
