In today's Sydney Paper: ---------- Don't bother … Love this proclamation, which has been circulating on the net: ''To the Republicans who said they will move to Australia if Obama won: Australia has universal healthcare, compulsory voting, no guns, no death penalty, pro-choice when it comes to contraception, openly gay politicians and judges, evolution is taught in all schools and our female PM is an unmarried atheist. Makes you proud to be an Australian, doesn't it? ------- Sure does. Pro-choice when it comes to contraception? Who advocates against contraception? It is the act of willfully stopping a life in progress (ie murder) that there is an objection to. Other than Catholics, I do not know who is against contraceptives. I would love to visit Australia, but not live there. People's sexual orientation and religions are of no concern of mine, so long as it doesn't interfere with my rights. If they can afford universal healthcare, and the people can live with the taxes imposed, good for them. It still has nothing to do with the United States. |

The point is much that the 'Cityslick' types said they would emigrate to avoid is already in situ. Stop - go back! |

Dave, the problem is that all the assholes that say they're going to move, NEVER do! We're still stuck with those crybabies who don't understand that this is a Democratic process where the American people elect their leaders. |

The article forgot to mention the hefty Carbon Tax that is already in place too. |

There was a posting a while back that Aus was recruiting US exmilitary into their ranks. At 45 they said I was too old to convert to the Aussy service - but I did enjoy working with them when I was in the SouthPac Region. |

The Cattle Stations are the big ones. One of their biggest challenges is actually finding the stock. |

I like Vegemite. When Oz confiscated the guns of law abiding citizens, I think it dropped off the potential refuge list of most freedom-loving Americans. It's usually the rabid leftists who say they'll leave the country if an election doesn't go their way. That or when one does go their way, they tell their political opposition to get out of the country; usually they're the self-absorbed dramatic Hollywood types. |

Since you brought it up, what is the Australian position on abortion Dave? Both legally, and "person on the street" perspective? |

"What??? I've heard Rush Limbaugh called a lot of names before, but I've never heard him called leftists before." On a similar note- I hear that the toilets flush backwards down there... Hmmm- looks like emotycon guy is doing it right... Pardon the pun!

>>Since you brought it up, what is the Australian position on abortion Dave? << Not really sure. Available if you 'need' one I think but societally it's not an issue unless you are particularly religious. |

Wouldn't worry about it mate. You've been here haven't you? Hardly anyone apart from Private School Old Boys is that interested in Rugby Union. League and Aussie Rules dominate discussion. |

I've never been to Oz but I understand that "kick & clap" is only played in 3-4 States & the General public only care if they are winning (& even then they don't care much) I'm RU born & bred. Played my 1st game of RL @ 45 (it's the USA, it's OK) I prefer RU but RL is great fun too. Chris C |

Union is like the Olympics and Soccer here, interest peaks every 4 years when the cup is on. The main market is AFL, which is started as Gaelic Football using a Rugby ball played on a cricket oval. IF you are Union man New Zealand is Nirvana. They have a dedicated Rugby channel. The streets are literally deserted when the All Blacks are playing. If Bad web was New Zealand, the amount of conversation on Rugby would be equal to Religion and Politics here. |

AFL is one of my favourite games. I played a bit in Oxford back in the day. (I think I was a "rover") Dipper DePierdomenico is still my favourite player! Chris C |

Dipper played for the Hawks. Monty Python 'Enzo Piraña' Voice: A skilful but violent man. It's Carlton territory around here. |
