I can't believe Honda still makes gas tanks like they did in 1968 though

The detail on this bike is great. From the two round gauges to the iconic tail light, this thing screams "750Four" loud and clear.

I didn't find any pictures of the gauges close up, I wonder if they're green?

+1 on the "Honda Vision". Like both bikes, and glad to see the Victory getting a following and building a niche. That Vic is a beautiful and practical bike.

+1 on the CB500 also! Please let it be a parallel twin!!!!! It would be a fun little commuter bike.

From what I remember, the CB1100 is heavy and not very powerful. Mr_Grumpy may have apologized, but he is right on the money. This bike is the equivalent to the Sportster, or the new Bonnevilles. I actually think it looks TOO much like the original. Sportsters and Bonnevilles can look 100% like it and still look good because the 50's and 60's were great looking years for bikes. But as impressive as the CB750K0 was it came out, the 70's were not known for very good looking bike and the Honda is the quintessential UJM.

I'm sure they'll sell a bunch, but I'm def not in the market. I'd get the Guzzi standard long before the Honda.

That F6B, on the other hand... that's pretty damn cool. I remember when my friend got his first GL1800, I was begging him to take the top case off just to see what it would look like, haha.

Grumps- here's hoping today and all those that come avoid being "crap" days... lol!

Looking forward any day now for news of the tuning fork folks' new crossplane TRIPLES!

Back OT- personally, if the Japanese can finally buck the LONG trend, especially Honda, started in the late 80's/early 90's, of homogenizing so many of their designs, I'd appreciate it. To me, there were SO many interesting bikes built back in the 80's... of course that was when I was growing up and voraciously devouring ANYTHING about MC's...

Anyone looked at that Metisse Beemer yet? (I still haven't learned to post pics here dammit...)

I agree with almost all but the last bit, I think it is a great looking bike, clean lines, timeless looks.
But yes, this is no different from HD, Bonnies, Royal Enfields, Urals, etc etc etc etc - rehash of the old styles. And thats fine, theres def a market for it

"Cross plane TRIPLES."

Pure marketing BS. ALL modern triples are 120 cranks. I think Laverda was the last company to make a 180 degree triple (and that thing shook like an off-kilter washing machine).

The 500 is a 180 degree DOHC 4 valve parallel twin with fuel injection and 34 mm throttle bodies.

Triples ROCK!

I really hate the direction of some modern dash displays. Give me an old school tack and speedo with actual needles any time. They are just easier to read with a glance. The digital speedo on the wife's Street Triple just sucks.

The rest of the retro styling is OK with me. Probably not where I would put my cash though though. I do enjoy seeing the new Triumph Bonnevilles running around. Seeing that sort of thing from Honda would be cool too.

M2NC- $9,999 or $10,999 W/ABS

That seems a bit steep but everything seems to be going up in leaps and bounds recently. (Please don't sidetrack to political thread over that. Pre-emptive don't go there! : ) )

I don't see the appeal of this bike. Retro is cool. However, sixties early seventies Honda does not trip my trigger.

I like it. Back when motorcycles were MOTORCYCLES, and you could do anything you wanted with them. Nowadays, everything is too damned specialized. By now, everyone here knows what I think of Honda, so seeing me say something like that about one of their models is high praise indeed.

Now, if only Yamaha would offer that retro model of theirs here...

Sadly, the reality here in the States is that if it isn't a big-honkin' Harley clone, or a hyper-sport bike, the manufacturers have been reluctant to bring them here. I'm hoping that Honda becomes a sales success so that the other manufacturers follow suit.

I agree with Jamiec, there needs to be more standards out there that maybe aren't great at anything, but do everything good. That's why I liked my Bonneville, it kinda did a little of everything.

Yamaha had built a standard motorcycle based on that big Star V-Twin engine. I lusted after that thing when I first saw it, but NATURALLY it was "Europe-Only." We just got the big Star cruisers here.

If the M2 were as reliable as the XB bikes, I'd still be riding it. Ergonomically, that was the perfect motorcycle for me. Unfortunately, it spent more time in the shop than it did on the road and I reluctantly parted with it to get the XB12Ss.

That wasn't bad, but the range on a tank of gas was less than I was getting out of the M2, and it kinked up my legs too much for me to be comfortable on long rides.

That was traded in for the 1125R and though the riding position was even more extreme I might've held on to it except Harley (in their INFINITE stupidity) killed the brand, and the closest dealer dropped the brand altogether so I had to travel too far to be convenient. Plus, their service department was over-priced and under-skilled so I had to give it up and commit the ultimate blasphemy: I traded it in on a Yamaha TMAX.

You talking about the MT-01 or the Bulldog?

Bulldog rode nice but was very underpowered & no way to poke it up worth a light, The MT-01 good bike but take it or leave it styling.

The MT-01! That was it. Corbin had one at their exhibit down in Daytona (no idea how they got their hands on one). The photos didn't really let you know how BIG that thing was. I guess if you were going to put that big, honkin' twin in a standard frame without making it look outsized, you had to make the bike itself correspondingly large.

After seeing it, I knew it was no Buell.. but I sure did think it was cool looking.
