Careful, everyone, LOL. You are very close to making me repeat the British/warm beer/Lucas refrigerator jokes. Which leads to all the other Lucas stories .... |

I got used to my buds Norton suddenly just going dark and quiet. He always carried a Zener Diode wrapped in a rag ( for vibration isolation ) tucked under the seat. American beer, the Bud/Miller/regional swill kind has an international reputation as "making love in a canoe" beer. It's deserved. "Lite" beer especially... Our micro brews, I'll match against anyone. But I'm biased. I have several friends who are master brewers, one wins at least a Gold every year at the State Fair, and has every year they've had home brew beer competitions. ( won 2 gold and a Silver the first year ) Another is growing hops in his yard... and has a local farmer who grows a wheat only grown in the Orkney Islands.... and a farm in PA. He's brewing a very authentic Orkney beer with a recipe that predates Christianity in the UK. As far as the "joke" goes.... I'm ok with the Queen, but the Senior Prince ( the Never King ) creeps the heck out of me... His kids are ok. |

Princess Diane was brought in to improve the bloodline. No word on her favorite drink. Someone gave me a bottle of French Grey Goose, asking if I would have preferred my Polish Buffalo grass. Too expensive, says I, plus the export version has a different grass blade. Still, a shot of "potato schnapps" at bed time, for medicinal purposes only, of course, is on my menu. |

Have you tried an ice cold Coors Light in the new wide mouth can? Amazingly good refreshing beer. |

"American beer, the Bud/Miller/regional swill kind has an international reputation as "making love in a canoe" beer. It's deserved. "Lite" beer especially... Our micro brews, I'll match against anyone." I'll match our American Lagers against the world, not just the craft beers. I am a brewer myself, and I can tell you that making those very light beers is quite difficult. Every flaw is detectable. More flavorful (sorry, flavourful) beers mask mistakes quite well. That Miller et al can make those beers in the quantity that they do, with the consistency that they do, is frankly remarkable. They are spot on for the style of beer that they are. Those guys could make any beer they want to make, the process is the same. They choose to make that beer because it sells. After prohibition, there were only a few breweries left, and the ones that survived had to make a beer with the broadest appeal to the public. Men drank, among other things, Pilsners. Women pretty much only drank Pilsners. It was a no brainer. |

On the subject of beer: One of my favorite radio shows, The Splendid Table, had a guest on recently talking about "session" beers- some with VERY high alcohol content, around 30-40%, others running much lower, 3-5%. That was a fascinating discussion, and they did remark that the lower alcohol beers were harder to make right, given the finesse needed to bring out the proper flavors and not have them masked by high alcohol. Great show as always! (Sorry about aiding the thread hijack...) |

No hijack. Beer and returning to Brittish rule go hand in hand. |
