Earlier this year, I got a Galaxy Ace, Android phone, the problem I have is that I can't turn off the network roaming. I live less than 2 miles from the Swiss border & the f*****g thing is forever swapping itself over to Swisscom. So I end up paying out of home network charges when I'm sitting in my house! I've been digging around in the menus & on the net, but all I can find is how to disable data roaming. I always have the 3g turned off anyway & only put it on when I need it, otherwise it wipes out the battery in no time. Anybody know of a shortcut or an app for that? |

Grumpy, have you tried running a search in google for the issue? I just got the Samsung Galaxy 3.6 (mp3 player) and couldn't figure out how to remove a damn widget from my home screen that I put on by mistake. Answer came right up. A quick search brought this up. I hope it puts you in the right direction. http://virgin.tmtx.co.uk/faqs/item/?lc=en&p=samsun g_galaxyace&a=how_do_i_enable_and_disable_data_roa ming This one goes into the voice part. http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f8/avoiding-int ernational-roaming-charges-33032/ |

Yup been looking, already saw those, & others with similar probs, but no solutions so far. I can't believe that there's no way to lock it onto it's home network & disable roaming. The data roaming question is well covered, but that's not the problem I have. |

I'm trying the network first, if all else fails, the phone will have an insured "accident" & be replaced with something that works. |

Which version of Android? I have a Captivate running 3.x from AT&T. Under network settings there is a section for roaming options that will let you turn roaming off for data only. Not sure if that helps or not. |

I found a vid on youtube how to do it, but the roaming section they showed doesn't appear in my menu, it was a "Sprint" phone so maybe the OS is tailored or it's a later version, they didn't say. (Message edited by Mr_grumpy on October 26, 2012) |

Grumps, not sure this will work, but try dialing *#*#4636#*#* then go down to Phone Information, look for "set preferred network type" and experiment with that. |
