A fine motor bike. Someone my age and current temperament doesn't "need" more than a Breva, but there is nothing like the feeling of a well balanced bike with a decent bit of throttle response to make the point of owning one in the first place. |

got to ride a Griso - it was a nice ground pounder, got a lot of attention. I would have liked to have ridden it for some distance, but it sold the next weekend. I do miss the perks of being able to ride any whip in the shop. |

Stelvio V R1200GS? The only reason to buy the Stelvio is 'to be different'. The BMW spanks it in every important performance category. |

Well I ride Buells so guess which category that puts me in. There is another category though that the beemer can't touch the Stelvio in & that's price. I can buy a brand new Stelvio NTX here for less than a 3 year old GS. Or a 3 yr old Stelvio for less than an 1150GS. The deciding factor though is the rider, & personally I can't ride to anywhere near the limits of either bike so it's moot. |

Not about limits - It's about the satisfaction. Stelvio din't. BMW did. Moot that :-P |

I was thinking about it while riding home from the bike shop. KLR is in for a service. (First bike I've ever needed the oil changed on time rather than milage. Brisbane just isn't that inspiring for riding - after NZ anyway.) Anyhoo, it would be interesting to ride a Stelvio with the 8V motor. But then you could buy three KLRs for that coin and the passenger could ride one. I am an ideas man. |

Not about limits - It's about the satisfaction. Exactly. There are many bikes that could outperform, in one way or another, any bike I've ever owned. The one thing that really counts for me is how the bike makes me feel. My Buells were easily smoked by I4s, but I've never enjoyed owning an I4. They work well, but there's no magic. My Norge and my Buells would have me walking into the garage just to admire their beauty. They had panache. Always buy the bike that talks to you. Motorcycles are emotional vehicles. If practicality was the only parameter, we'd all be driving Daewoos or Honda civics, and wouldn't consider riding. |

You certainly are. Do you think I could get 3 KLRs & a bed? Mme G would make me sleep in the garage if I did that. That's the Stelvio I rode, with the 8v motor & the 150 rear end. I've also ridden a 2010 GS it's a really nice bike to ride, it just soesn't have that "something" maybe it's too good. |
