Cool. I need to go back up there myself soon.

My kid plays football games right across the street from there once a year. Its really hard to coach a team of 4,5, or 6th graders and keep them focused on football when all matter of odd vehicles are circling over. My favorite was the German Fokker triplane...

Well if you guys ever happen to be riding down the center of California, the old Castle AFB near Merced has a static display of some neat aircraft, including the SR-71. I was surprised by how small it really is. By comparison, the B36 bomber is absolutely huge.

That's because the B-36 IS HUGE. With 6 turning and 4 burning to get it off the ground! Must have been a sight.

Walking under the one at Wright-Pat it seems the Bomb Bay goes on into the next time zone.

Small Correction.
There were only 2 B-70's built. One crashed... after a F-104 got caught in the tip vortice and rolled through the vertical stabilizers and one wing tip.

The Valkyrie, unlike the Blackbird, was not made from Titanium, but Stainless Steel Honeycomb. Bird #1 has fuel leak issues, because they were still learning how to make a plane out of the stuff. Footprints, believe it or not messed up the bonding. That meant that not all the fuel tanks held fuel, so were not used. Bird #1 is at the Museum.

Bird #2 had that part worked out, could use full fuel, and had more range. That one crashed.
