Hey guys do those switchback boots run true to size I normally wear a 10 would I be safe ordering a 10 off of Jims link.
Its UK so I'd be screwed if they didn't fit.

If I remember right, they run 1/2 to 1 full size BIG. I normally wear an 11; I wear a 10 in these.

Pants are the one thing I don't wear like I should.

Regarding those Switchback boots:

I've got a pair, used, not too far gone, about a size 10. I never really liked them that much, had been wearing other boots until I sold the XB.

If anyone here REALLY wants them, I'll sell them for cheep.

Great thread, BTW! Keep on plugging there, Whistler!

What Hugh said, an extra pair of socks bigger.
If you want a good fit, get a half size smaller than you usually take.
I actually liked them big as my feet don't get too tight & hot in the summer & I can wear an extra pair of thermal socks in the winter.

@Mnrider

The link for those boots list the UK sizes which differ from US sizes. From what Hughlysses says about them running big (if he remembers right) you would figure your US size, maybe subtract one and convert that to the UK equivalent. I'm sure that Google will find a US to UK shoe size conversion chart.

went over to cyclegear again today. Amazed at both the number of cheaply made helmets with flimsy plastic vents and
there is also a huge rift between the cost/quality of the low end $60 and the high end $650 helmets.
there is a middle class of 200-300$ helmets by Scorpion, Bell, and others, but to be honest you can't even
try many of them on in the showroom because they tend to cater to the two extremes of price because that's
what people buy at a retailer like this. Either the bargain basement...looks like a helmet it'll do,
or on the other end.... I only wear Arai.

The retailer does not employ people knowledgeable about the brands. I asked who makes the Joe Rocket
Helmets (HJC) and their store brands like Bilt and Speed and Strength. They did not know. I asked about
touring versus racing helmets and got blank stares because they did not know the difference. They did have
one guy that knew how to properly fit a helmet, but two others gave very bad advice on helmet shape and sizing
when I intentionally made bad choices to see if they would correct me.

Poor customer service is the fastest way to turn away buyers for a niche product. The Buell Brand has built
a reputation based on good service and being a company not just "for riders" but a company "OF riders."

I just wanted to talk about how this was driven home to me and how thankful we all are to have a conduit
to "The Source" as it were. My brother and I many years ago raced a Suzuki and when we did the boys from hamamatsu
never EVER visited our pits. However when we started racing Buells Henry Duga and the rest of the Buell guys
went out of their way to know all of us on the team. Henry even knew my son Kyle (then 12) by sight and if
he saw him would ask if we needed anything. AMAZING! The factory was actually interested in privateers! This influenced me heavily when I bought
my next street bike (which I still own and love). Being a shoestring
privateer but still being able to get on the phone to the factory and talking to the guys in the know was a huge
thing for us and the other Buell teams. That connection to the owners is part of what makes Buell so special.

Erik was in our shoes once and that is very clear in how approachable and connected he is with the rank and file
(as if we Buell riders would succumb to being so easily classified) riders is the stuff of motorcycling legend.

Sorry about rambling. In a nut shell don't forget to go out and ride. That is one of the best ways to get in
touch with what we want and need. Buell riders do not measure their rides based on the destination, but by the
roads taken to get there. Take a look at the gear from the perspective of a first time rider as well as that
of a seasoned veteran. See what the local shops do and do not do well and see how that affects how they
interact with their customers.

You'll never go far wrong with this as a starting point...

Do it the way you'd want the gear to be made to protect your family. Because that's what we are. Family.

(all helmets discussed in this post are full face helmets because less than that is unacceptable IMO)
