Any opinions of polished versus epoxy/or like coated concrete? The slab is new and smooth, very level. Will probably not add a stain. Garage and work/play space. Approximately 1200 square feet. Got a lot of info on floors recently but very much value what you Bad Webbers have to say on the subject. Thanks. | ||

Polished concrete is damned slick when wet. A friend of mine has a textured epoxy coating that seems awesome - enough texture to grip, even when wet, but spills still wipe up. | ||

Why polish a garage floor? I think that sealing it against the inevitable oil leaks, etc is a better way to go. I've got a professional epoxy coat with the colored plastic chips and clear coat that's at least 5 years old and looks like new. | ||

Seal it with something textured. Not "bumpy", making it hard to wipe spills, but more like sharkskin - grippy, but wipe-able. | ||

Previous owner put a urethane finish on mine. Even still can get pretty slippery in the wrong shoes when wet. Plain polished would be a recipe for easily dropping a wet bike and rider I reckon. | ||

I like epoxy & sand for the garage. Non slip, but smooth enough for my creeper board, trolley jack, & engine crane to roll smoothly on. The down side of it is when the spanner slips and your knuckles drag over the floor, ouch! |
