Today is the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks please take a moment and pause to remember those who were lost, and give thanks for those who served their fellow man, even to the end.. |

Today's weather is about exactly the same as that day... Somber memories, and best wishes for all those affected that day- mainly for those in the path of the attacks, but in a real sense, ALL of us. |

It truly is a shame about what happened, I remember that day well - where I was, what I was doing etc That said...I am ashamed at the commercials coming out "im going to volunteer" "im going to help at a homeless shelter" "what are you going to do for 9-11 day?" Why not do that stuff EVERY DAY?? You need a special day to do it? Im looking forward to December 7th day and seeing what everyone is doing to help their community that day too.... |

>>>Today's weather is about exactly the same as that day... Identical in fact. The sunrise over the site was, as it was on the day of the attack, spectacular. Never forget there are many very well funded folks around the world intent on destroying the USA. As Iran moves, at an increasing pace, toward having their nuke and sequestration is about to take 12% of the defense budget away . . . at the time when the Chinese and Iran have stealth aircraft just as sophisticated as ours . . I suspect that national security will only become a bigger and bigger issue. |

I'm heading to Fort Myers next March and have an 8 hr layover in NY. I'd like to visit the Memorial. Anybody have an idea when the Museum will be opened? |

quote:"On this day, we remember the unconscionable attack by the Islamic terrorist group Al Qaeda on the United States of America. This attack resulted in the loss of thousands of men and women, and American lives were changed forever. Even though 11 years have passed, we all remember where we were when the planes crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in western Pennsylvania. The attack resulted in the loss of mothers, fathers, children, teachers, business people, firefighters, police officers, members of our armed forces, and many more victims who were doing nothing more than going to work or boarding an airplane. On that September morning, America was a vulnerable target. Our adversaries believed we were a “sleeping giant” that had drifted back to sleep. Instead, this atrocity awoke the “giant” and resulted in a reaction from our country against those who wished to tread upon us. Today, thanks to the brave warriors of the American Armed Forces and our Allies, Osama Bin Laden is dead, Al Qaeda has been diminished in Afghanistan and much of the Middle East and America has yet to see another attack of this magnitude on American soil. Still, even with all of these accomplishments, we cannot become complacent. Since 9/11, several attacks have taken the lives of innocent Americans. The attacks on Fort Hood, Texas, as well as an attack at a recruiting station in Little Rock, Arkansas, and last year's attacks on Americans serving overseas in Germany, in addition to numerous attempts here and overseas are evidence a radical, hateful, determined enemy still exists and is just as dangerous as ever. We must be evermore vigilant and resolute to crush this enemy and prevent its resurgence and fulfillment of its global aspirations. Because of this enemy, America must continue to fund its military and support its Armed Forces to the fullest extent. The lives of all Americans depend on it." -- Allen West ~ September 11, 2012

I remember. Always will. We visited the NYC memorial in March, really cannot explain my thoughts of the place. Incredible. My thoughts and prayers always go out to the families of those lost that tragic day, and our armed forces are always in our thoughts as well. |
