Dunno about the harness, but you have sympathy on the rats. Last year I left the VW TDI in the driveway for 2 weeks while camping, and mice ate the wiring harness to the tune of $530..... The 2 amazing things were it managed to run enough to drive to the dealer, barely, and live mice were still there under the plastic engine cover when the tech took it apart. He took Iphone video. |

killing rats... 1 part bleach, equal 1 part ammonia - vacate. It works like a charm - don't use if you have small animals - the cloud is lethal to little four legged things |

I've only had spiders and lizards as stowaways. |

Funnily enough, I drove Madame G's Ford the other evening & there was a headlight out. "How long's that been blown?" "Oh I don't know, a month or two." After I'd come down from the stratosphere, I realised that I'd not actually laid hands on the car for a while & I really ought to give it a once over. So on Sunday I gave it a thorough check over & changed the blown bulb. Popped the bonnet (sorry, hood) & found a rough circle about 6" diameter of the insulation has been clawed or nibbled away, smack in the middle over the engine. I'm guessing it happened while we were away on vacation this summer, as that's the only time the car's been laid up for any length of time. It's not been a lucky car, that one. We'll be moving house again next year & I'll get shot of it after we've moved. |

thanks for the mustard gas recipe,i'll have to do that this winter. i did find the harness at the dealer it'll take about a week to get it in 9.99 not to bad and 11.99 for the rear.i hate rats and mice oh and don't get me started on pack rats there worse. i worked at a dealer and on a customers car it had gotten in the engine compartment and it took me 2 hours to clean the mess out.when you opened the hood you couldn't see the motor. |

I read something about newer car insulation being based on corn oil, which is attracting more rodents. |
