...they are a family member...don't care what anybody says..you and them have a "bond",if you will, that "grows" over time.They give you unconditional love and they can sense when you're not your self...be it whatever it is and will come up to you and "say"hey i'm here to be with you to "lift your spirits" and make you your usual self".They do give you back what you give them.You two remember all the"good times and love" Ty brought to you.LT | ||

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and words. I knew this day would come, but I had myself convinced that he would live forever. My boy had been by my side for 12 years of good and bad times and quite often served as a cuddle pillow, sounding board and guardian. He was more my best friend than he ever was just my pet. At the moment, even with the patter of two other sets of feet, the house feels pretty darn empty. It almost broke my heart all over yesterday when Issy (our lab cross) found his collar and her tail stop wagging for the first time ever, as she had a little sniff and looked around  It all just happened so quickly we really weren't prepared for what happened. Dog speed my beautiful friend. I hope the big shag-pile rug in the sky has plenty of treats, magpies to chase and smelly things to roll in    | ||

Thanks from me too. Everyone's thoughts and kind words have helped soften the sudden loss a little. It's been a weird few days and really hard on Vamps. There were some really tough times when it was just her and Ty, and "best friend" would be an understatement. It's hard seeing Issy, the "always happy" lab, slowly realise that he's not coming home too | ||

Tough loss - no words ever really get there. Dogs are like family; and in some cases - better than the family you were dealt. Still miss my 'Bosco' Shepard like it was yesterday; it has been decades. | ||

So sorry for your loss Vamps and Chili. Furkids are such a part of our lives, that we do think/feel that they should be with us forever, in one sense they are. Ty will live in your heart and memory forever. | ||

Thanks guys. It's nice to know there are so many warm wishes floating around the universe us and my boy. I thought I'd share our last family pic together from the weekend before he left us. We had planned this shoot for another day, but for some reason nobody can quite remember, had it brought forward to that weekend, and I will be eternally grateful we did.  He was returned home to us today and sits in his 'spot' in the bedroom to watch over us, so it was another hard day to deal with. | ||

sorry to hear y'all lost a loved one. glad to hear y'all had such a long time to love him. our latest addition, a 20 lb min-pin, took one look at Ty's pic and said: "i could whoop 'em" - but his best friend is an 80-lb pittie, and he's started riding on the back of the fatboy, so he thinks he's a bad-ass now. we're D.I.K.s, (Dogs Instead of Kids) so i feel we have a bit in common. while i may not be as hip as Chilli, my wife's a hottie, too.  keep your chin up, Ty would want it that way. |
