Grumps, that's very cool and very sexy!Do you have other European Buell ads?If so please post them up!
SO TRUE!!! The European marketing was MUCH more appropriate for the style of a Buell!
Even though the (US) Demo Rides rules were 'no wheelies, no stoppies, no burnouts', these acts of Hooliganism were fairly commonly pictured in European ads. 1313
Back when I was at Buell, in the late(r) days of the tube framed bikes, we had a CD from Buell Marketing in Europe. I was fortunate enough to make a copy of the CD. And I was even more fortunate to find a backup copy of it tonight. Some of the pics are artsy:
Some are a little more aggressive:
And some just show pure acts of Hooliganism:
There are also some very cool videos on the CD. After realizing the size of the videos were much too big to be emailed I couldn't think of a way to share them until the light bulb lit up. YouTube!
The remaining videos are processing and will be up as soon as they can. As a warning, Dunlop D20-whatevers were lofted and harmed in the filming of these videos. And I'm pretty sure that the posters I picked up in Germany, showing the front view of a white X1 doing a mondo-wheelie, were a direct result of this marketing effort.
We could only imagine that type of marketing materials in the US. Although there were 2 notable exceptions in the US: 1. The S1 'wheelie' T-shirt. 2. The original version of the 'Just Go Ride The Motorcycle' 1996 Marketing video, which showed someone (Howard Kelly perhaps?) doing a mondo-wheelie on an S1. Unfortunately the VHS copy I have of that video is the later version - minus wheelie.
Just imagine what it would be like to be able to market like this in the US... 1313
Hey, most of those photos are in my screensaver album!
A few years ago I flipped through every single archive page of the "pics" board here on badweb. Lots of interesting stuff is in there from years before I had even heard of Buell.
I've got a few old articles saved as pdf, might have some ads in there too. Any recommendations on how to share them here?

Brankin, thanks for sharing.I'll be watching those vid's when I get back from the British car and bike show in Norcross today. I wonder if Ma Bremer knows how much of a hooligan bent her boy Brankin exibits?
The wheelie ads were fun . . . I have some of the original S1 Wheelie shirts.
Timing, given the "Pocono incident" could have been better and the outburst from legal pretty much served to squash any future ads . . but, like Big Red, it was fun while it lasted.
For years The Penguin, in Georgia, kept a listing of all Buell ads. I still have cases of everything up to about 2000 including all the RR and RS/RSS ads. There were some dandies to be sure.
