This past weekend, I did a ride through Vermont. I was sitting in a Dunkin Donuts in Ludlow having a cup of coffee and watching traffic, when I saw an S3-T go by. It still is the most beautiful motorcycle ever manufactured IMO. Anyway, it was a treat to see a Buell Sport-Tourer doing what it was designed to do, in a state with so many magnificent roads. I really wish Erik would build another Sport Tourer... |

I saw a gorgeous M2 on my way in this am. I love the lava/silver combo bikes with chrome PM wheels. Next riding season I'm looking into an S3T for day trips with the wifey. She refuses to ride on the VR. |

10-4 that Crusty. Today's selection of sport tourers are 800lb, 160hp monstrosities. The S3-T was a pure, purposeful machine. It's the bike that got me interested in Buell. |

Rode my S2 with T goodies to work today. Always nice being surprised by how competent a 17 year old motorcycle is...especially since the last 2 days, I rode my 1125. The S2 still compares quite well |

I'm kinda aggravated with the kid who bought my XBSX- looks like he cleaned almost all the stickers off, (except the Nashville P*ssy one for some reason), and is now trying to "flip" it for $700 over what he paid me for it... idiot. I bet Erik's scribbles are gone too. I WILL have another Buell someday, gunning for a S3T for sure! |

" . . .in Ludlow having a cup of coffee and watching traffic, when I saw an S3-T go by. It still is the most beautiful motorcycle ever manufactured IMO." Then don't look at this. . . http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/21/ 692120.html?1346717097 No affiliation, just surprised after seeing this thread how many tubers are for sale in the classifieds. . . |

Yesterday I saw a nice Ducati 996 followed by a white 1125. Don't see those everyday. |

So let's talk about this. My '97 S-3 is for sale (price reduced) for $2000. What's a '97 Sportster worth? $3500? $4000? Why the difference? Mine even has the PM wheels... It looks, goes, and stops better, and you don't have to look for long to tell it's something unique and beautiful. The irony is that you can't even rebuild the motor in a Sportster for $2K, yet you can buy my whole bike (with a fresh motor!) for that. There is something wrong with this picture, folks. So, why am I selling it, after waxing poetic? I have too many bikes, and something's gotta give. The Buell needs a home where it will be loved and admired without competition from other machines. Sigh.

Chauly - and thats why so many Buells get chopped. Hell, I knew a guy selling a X1 for 1500 bucks, running with title. I was going to buy it for the extra motor. He is a friend of mine that I race with, and and a second bike for sale at the same time - someone wanted both or none, so he had to sell the X1 to that guy so he could get rid of the other. i hate I missed it, seriously good deal |

Thumper, that is one way to look at it. To add some context, it is an S3 in the middle of treating its rider to a day of sport touring at rest after navigating a narrow clay and pavement road without guardrails at an elevation of over 6,000 ft. There is always more than one way to look at a picture. |

Sportbikes and sport tourers depreciate a lot more than cruisers as a whole, as well. Everyone knows a Harley and tube frame Buells aren't exactly highly sought after. That said, I've seen some Sporties sold on the cheap lately, as well. |

97 sportsters are NOT WORTH 4k...lots of sellers ask that, but old rigid xl's actually change hands for much less than that. the days of padded real-world hd prices are long gone. They financed too many buyers who shouldn't have been approved and the market is flooded with turn-ins, repos, and "I can't keep it"s. Lots of asking prices are still sky-high, but when it comes down to it...most sellers are taking real money (or keeping their motorcycle). that s3 is killing me. Does it have both sets of bags? Or just the wides? The first pic is hard to make out on my screen... |

Both sets. I also have a Gustaffson High Bubble screen and the fairing lowers. Late-model muffler and mounts. '99 M2 seat (the comfy one), Michelin PR2 on the rear, Metz Z3 on the front. S/S braid clutch cable. |

A lot of H-D guys think they can get every penny back from every dollar of chrome they've loaded the bike with. That is not realistic, especially nowadays. There is the occasional sucker that may take the shiny bait. |
