One of my best friends was in a motorcycle wreck tonight on his XB9. I don't have all the details as it just happened, but they transferred him to Indy Methodist. Please say a little prayer tonight. Thanks!! |

Best wishes for a fast recovery. Had a co-worker go down this weekend, too. CBR600RR, not a Bueller...but we're all brothers (and sisters). Be safe out there folks! |

Okay...UPDATE. I still don't know the whole story about how he went down (heavily sedated), but he has 11 broken ribs, broken collarbone, punctured and partially collapsed lung. Otherwise stable and has been talking/coherent. Other small dents and dings, but nothing major! I am going to try and ride over to visit when they say a guy can. I will pass on the thoughts and words, THANKS GUYS! |

Good to hear that all of that sound like stuff that you can come back from. Still, it's going to be a rough road. OUCH! |

Wish your friend the best, and hope for a speedy recovery Brian! Broken ribs suck, hopefully the lung heals quick. |

Methodist Trauma here in Indy is amazing. If you need anyone local to drop something off or want to pass his information along, I would be glad to swing by and wish him well! |

6g- prayers up for your buddy. Is he a BW guy, or what? Sounds like he made out OK, all considered, but painkillers and PT will be in his future... |

11 Ribs! Makes me hurt just thinking about it, not to mention the rest, but fortunately all that will heal. I've got him on my list! Rotzaruck! |

Prayers sent. I've done ribs and a collar bone, they both sucked. Can't imagine them combined. |

Hey Guys, quick update before I head over to see my buddy. The doctors released him yesterday!! He says LOTS of bedrest and check ins with the doctors, but he is resting at home now. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers! Now I just gotta see if I can talk his wife out of getting rid of the bike, LOL. |

Glad to hear hes out and on the mend. Will be harder to convince his wife to let him ride than to heal! |

I went over and visited today for a while. Doing good, lots of pain and moving pretty slow but in good spirits. I got to see his bike....remarkably unscathed. Everything looks straight on it. Plastic is scuffed pretty bad and the rear subframe/plate mount is busted off. Missing a passenger peg and broke a mirror. Muffler is trashed, but all things considered it is in AWESOME shape. Fires right up, sounds good. |

He'll be back at it soon. Have him do exactly what the PT's tell him - no more, no less. Taper his own meds off as he can tolerate it. Aches and dull pains are OK, sharp pains mean STOP RIGHT NOW. Eat right, sleep as well as possible, and he'll be back before you know it. Back in '08 I had some similar injuries to my torso. Accident in July, spent the fall learning to walk again (I also shattered both legs), and was back at work at New Years. If he paces himself, doesn't get angry with himself (that's a big one - make him talk about how he's doing every time you see him, even if you have to pull it out of him), doesn't get discouraged, and doesn't push too hard...he's gonna be just fine. Glad to hear he's already home! |
