Just got off the phone with a good riding buddy of mine. Sunday afternoon he was out on his Daytona 675 and while slowing for a right hand turn got hit by a Harley that was behind him. The good news is that it was a cool day for August so he actually had his jacket on for a change. He's got a few bruises, but is basically OK. The bike is rideable with only cosmetic damage. All in all not too bad. There is a funny part to all of this though. A couple of years back he and I were our for a ride with 3 others and got pulled over for "riding way to fast" through some curves. The cop read us the riot act about idiots riding "rice burners" (we had a Buell, Ducati, and a Sportster in the group of 5) and he said the only one with any brains was the guy on the Sportster. He eventually let us go with just a verbal warning. Well it turns out that it was this same cop that hit my buddy yesterday. OH THE IRONY! Anyway, ATGATT! Stay safe out there folks. | ||

WHAAATT?!! Your buddy, on a 675, was hit by a cop on a Hog, same cop that harshed him going back a bit?? HAHAHAHHAHAAA!!! Did the cop recognize him, and what did they say to one another?  | ||

No the cop didn't recognize my buddy, he was on the Ducati last time they met. My buddy said he thought he recognized him and once he said he was a cop in Wayne, it clicked. My buddy kept quiet about it though. | ||

A cop in Wayne? I would have guessed they only had one cop. Looking at the picture of your bike and your location I'm thinking we met briefly before. Maybe about a year ago? Home depot on schmale? You said nice shirt (buell) and I replied nice bike? I was driving my mint 94 ford escort thats been rebadged as an excursion. | ||

Hey John, I remember that day at HD (Home Depot)! Went to see my buddy last night. He already got the bike to the shop to get the insurance ball rolling. He's feeling pretty good, but has a slight limp from a sore knee. Hopefully the insurance will do right by him. He said the guy on the HD was able to ride away, but was bleeding through his jeans quite a lot and was visibly in pain, limping around a lot. | ||

That was the day I overcame my fear of the jardine pipe! I can't remember where but I heard a ton of people bad mouth it. I am very happy with mine though I got it used with 11 miles on it from someone who wasn't happy with it for a very reasonable price. Anyway... Glad to hear your buddy is okay and I'll watch out for the Wayne police. |
