Given that many here on BW are tech/engineer types, and also given that dang near ALL of us here are into good eats and cooking, I felt I had to share this- just ran across it today, and bookmarked it immediately once I got into the table of contents:

Yes, go take a look- the stuff in the TOC goes back to '04!

Discuss, and enjoy!

That website is great. I really like the grid format they use for the recipes.

not an engineer - but I do love to cook (and EAT)... I will tread lightly there, it looks dangerous.

What the heck is "evil" or "dangerous" about engineers cooking?!

Now, I CAN see the danger to my grocery budget, and the risks of "blowing up" the kitchen (me and the GF do that regularly, then clean up)... but, that's the fun, right? Plus, EATING the grub produced...

Do enjoy the link and its resources, my friends- carry on now!

You answered your own question with the "grocery budget" and "hurting the kitchen" thing. I did some BBQ chicken the other night. Best I have done yet (as far as MY taste buds are concerned). I left the skin on, and actually basted the BBQ sauce UNDER the skin................WOW! I ate 3 legs; took the kid for a walk; and ate 3 more. A nice side of potatoes and green beans in a rosemary sauce.

One key strategy to employ at all times: Grocery "outlets"!

I've long been a fan of our local "United Grocery Outlet" stores- when I relocated to Maryville, I found a very nice one less than a mile away! Similar to a Save-A-Lot, they still use price tag guns instead of UPC's for pricing- many things you'll see one time only, so it's wise to stock up when possible. About 2 weeks ago I found some large packages of arugula and mixed greens for $1- they would have been $3-4 or more easy at Kroger or Food City. We shop there first, then go to Kroger for the rest- on average, a dollar spent at UGO is worth $2 at the major grocers!

I encourage anyone who watches their food $$$'s to check them out! Given the variable inventory, it puts the FUN back in shopping...

When I first began shopping at the one here, I found some single serving pizzas- they had grilled chicken, 3 types of charred peppers (yes, REAL char!), goat cheese, onions, and herbs, selling for $1 each. Turned over the pizza to read the label, they were Wolfgang Puck pizzas!

I bought them ALL, stashed them in the freezer...
