This may get real in a hurry. I may also be a complete buffoon. We were sent an email today instructed not to change GTC orders as the trade desk was doing GTC maintenance. Not sure how you maintain a GTC order. So I called and asked a trader if it was a knight issue. She said she was instructed to tell us it is GTC maintenance and nothing else. I responded, so it's a knight issue? She just said GTC maintenance and hung up. She sounded a little shook up. My guess is Knight will be bankruput, ceremonially bought out (Bear Sterns), or bailed out by Monday and the markets (what's left of them in the central bank dominated wasteland) lose a firm that routed 20% ish of trade volume. I know one thing is for sure. Killing liquidiity does NOT lend it self well to the market rising. Quite the opposite (think Lehman). So what do you think the effects from Knight will be? Pisses me off the the future of world markets and peoples lives can be so negatively impacted by a messed up High Frequency Trading machine. The conspirator in me thinks it was a virus meant to destroy a certain HFT player. Den of wolves for sure. I work with a bunch of f'in thieves and it makes me mad. |

OK, after reading this I feel stupider than normal. All I can determine is the people who should know what's going apparently haven't a clue. |
