My apologies if this has been posted already, but I couldn't see it anywhere. I got my Zinio copy of Cycle World on the weekend with their latest superbike test. The 1190RS got a great write up, with high praise for it's handling and feel particularly in the slower corners, and being the lightest bike in the test. While praised for it's power output it was noted that it's in a comparatively narrow band and this hampered it on some parts of the track and it's peak speeds. The test had heavy focus on lap times, with Eric Bostrom doing the riding for the timed laps. They tested the S1000RR,CBR, GSXR, R1 and ZX10R on Miller's East Course, while they tested the "Exotics", 1190RS, RSV4, Panigale S and MV F4 RR on the West Course. They also tested the fastest of the first group (CBR1000RR) on the West Course. Aprilia RSV4 Factory 1:34.94 Ducati Panigale S 1:35.31 EBR 1190RS 1:35.45 Honda CBR1000RR 1:36.58 MV F4 RR 1:37.10 Overall I think it's a great result for EBR. As a bonus the 1190RS is on the cover with the Duc and the CBR For me it's really great to see an Erik Buell creation pitted against the top sportbikes available with no compromises or excuses, no apples vs oranges arguments, and it did really well |

I sent an email just yesterday morning to Motorcyclist Magazine regarding their recent two part comparo of sportbikes which concluded with the Ninja as top dog. I suggested that they could take this comparo one step further and compare bikes for the worlds best sportbike with no holds barred. An all out comparison using any street legal production bikes for the best of the best, so to speak. Of course I suggested they would need an EBR 1190 RS in the mix. Looks like cycle world beat them to the punch. |
