I'm sure glad the escape plan is working out, not nearly as much as Lou & Carol though. Now we won't have to go try and break him out. I hope future adventures just involve riding and picking. No more EMTs and hospitals.
JB2/Prior - Vamps and I are planning our next US adventure, this time 3 weeks starting late around last week of February 2013. Destinations this time will probably be some touring around southern California , Vegas baby ,and the Georgia area . Not sure on the order, need to talk to Glitch to sort out the Georgia bit, but I'm really hoping to time it so we could hang out with some Buellers and I could do an acoustic gig with Lou , that would be uber-cool!
Yeah, unfortunately he's back in. And the day started off so well.... But by 9:30 last night Lou took another ill turn. They admitted him to AnMed with fever, headache, pressure in his chest and blood in his urine. Fever is 101.3 and they did another CT scan, have been drawing blood every few hours. He still has a bad headache but has been able to get some sleep. Don't expect to know more until we hear about the scan. ER doctor said there was a UT infection and blood for sure, could be caused by a kidney stone. They don't think his heart is involved, more likely an anxiety attack caused the shivering, stuttering, chest pressure and irregular breathing. Hoping we learn more soon. I'll let you know more when I do. and then this a little while ago... Thanks Dave, yes, they've ruled out any heart issues, but don't like that he's still not taking any of his blood thinners... the UT is hurting him badly, and much like he was just after Memorial Day... 14 hours later, they are getting him a doctor to look into what antibiotics he may need... looks like we could be here a few days though. I'll let you know what happens next.... Love you guys! It's been a long day obviously. I'm headed up asap. I'll update as I get more info
Dang it! Thanks for the update, Glitch. Please give Lou & Carol a big hug from us, and let 'em know (again) how many friends they have pulling for them out here.
Will do, as soon as I hear from Carol, I'll let y'all know. Please please please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. They're going through some tough times right now. Up again down again is really wearing on 'em
Just got a quick note from Carol Hi... not much new to report. They are certainly trying everything. More IV meds to come this afternoon... they are doing an ultrasound now. Saw 2 more doctors today... making sure there are no blood clots forming, as he is also getting fluid at the bottom of his lungs from laying around so much for so long... He's slept most of the day and fever seems to be around 100 and not getting any higher, but not going away. Checking his gallbladder and appendix now... he still has diarrhea and I think that is part of why he feels so weak and sleeping so much. His sugar is getting all out of whack now and they're giving him insulin to counter it... he wants to go home so bad, but knows he'll only end up back here if they don't figure this out now.
Just in case you weren't sure if your card or letter means anything... we did get 2 cards from strangers wishing him well... they were a nice surprise for him last week. THANK YOU! So I'm asking all you "strangers" to please send Lou a card. It ain't gotta be much, "Get Well Soon" goes a long way. Thanks everyone!
We're thinking maybe while he was in the last time they pumped him so full of antibiotics that it killed the good the bad and the useful, so that when he got out he was vulnerable to the least little bug.
"House" just left. The good news: white blood cells are back to normal, fever under control staying about 99. Fluid in lungs getting better along with diarrhea better too. Antibiotics working, just not sure which one. There is a simply medication for the prostrate he can take which is the source the urologist believes. The bad news: from inactivity and lack of blood thinners he has developed blood clots in his left leg, but below the knee. Waiting on heart doctor to see if they need to place a filter to keep it from moving or what to do since they don't want to give him blood thinners yet. Probably doing another scan to see there has been any movement in the clots. He can get up and walk around which I hope will help but not going home today...
Lou, better make some plans before too long to do just that- I'd be honored to treat you and yours with some home cooking and a cold one or 2!
That's one of my favorite songs from Del McCoury BTW- yes, I know Richard Thompson penned it, but McCoury just nails it... Lou, your version works just fine!
Well, that's progress! Getting to walk around should help, body and sanity. COME ON DOC'S! Get him cured and out of there. He's got stuff to do! Whup this thing Lou!
Glitch, thanks for keeping everyone in the loop. We are obviously on the same mailings cause you keep posting the e-mails Carol has been sending to Kim and I.
At any rate, w*rk keeps getting in the way. When I finally have a minute to post up something you already have.
Fingers and toes crossed for Lou and many prayers sent.
Graham, Just talked to Carol and Lou is out and doing well at home. It'll take several weeks to restore his strength and heal from all that's happened but she sounded really positive. Keep prayin'!
