Got a question for you all. Have any of you been stationed overseas and brought your bikes with you? When you were bringing them back did you have to fill out a declaration form for importation of motor vehicles? If so, what issues did you run into? My bikes (XB9SX and 1125R) were both bought and titled in the US. I brought them with me to Germany. I'm on my way back now and have to fill out this form. (HS-7 Rev 9-99). I'm not certain what to expect. Are they going to retest the bikes or what? |

I have friends who took their bikes to Europe and brought them back with no problems. |

Did they have to go through EPA testing or did they just fill out paperwork and that was it? |

No, the nameplate on the steering head should satisfy Customs. In '83, a friend just had to have a Guzzi V50 and there were no mew ones in the US. The importer had sold a batch to a Toronto dealer, so she bought one of them. I rode up there with another friend, so we could ride back with her (a new rider). At customs, they put me on the phone with an EPA guy in DC and I was able to get it cleared when the customs guy verified that the Dell'Orto model number matched the approved spec sheet. Since yours were originally US spec, they should have no problem. |
