Ouch. Anyone we know? I like the last bit of the story, where it's 3rd hand news, is that typical NZ reporting? |

I have to admit to having a less-than-sympathetic attitude sometimes when so often these incidents come about as the result of a rider who is riding over their head and beyond what is safe for the conditions. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know he MIGHT have had somebody cut him off... and "JUST HAPPENED" to be carrying a HUGE excess amount of speed as a "PRECAUTION." But that's just me. I look on most sportbike wrecks as a good source for race spares... though NZ is a bit far away for shipping. |

I have seen that happen three times with dirt bikes and a three wheeler in years gone by. Only one of which was mine. I got passed by a guy on an enduro event one time. I was approaching a bridge that was a ninety degrees left turn from the dirt road we were hauling down. The bridge had no sides so nothing was above ground level to be seen. He made it about half way across the creek into about four feet of water, while the bike he was riding got hung in a tree along the creek bank about two feet above the water, but ten feet out over it. What a bear getting that thing out of there! |
