On Henry's bike, Jcbikes said: "The pics do not do it justice. He started it for us and OMG!!! He said it was dynoed at 195 HP at the rear wheel!!!"

If this IS true, and I suspect it just might be, depending on the dyno and conditions, I wonder if it is "reliable" H.P. that could be used in AMA racing given their rules on modifications to the engine. If not I would think Erik and the Elves are pretty close to that within legal AMA rules seeing the way they are running. And if not, could they be with further refinement? I hope so.

Waiting patiently again for Barber. It should be good.

"Waiting patiently again for Barber. It should be good."

What he said!

I'll never consider myself anything resembling a "fast guy", much less racer, and my short times (20 mins each) riding the 1125R at Barber proved to me my XB9SX was as fast as I'm meant to go.

I can't imagine the progress that the EBR 1190RS represents, given that it's about 3ish or more generations ahead of what I rode, represents.

Thanks to you all for the good spirited "back and forth"- BadS, I believe you're not a hater, met you at HC in '10, liked you then and now. Hope the Honda is serving you well.

Court- thanks for just, well, sayin'.

Danger Dave,

The engines are assembled from scratch in Wisconsin, FYI. Crankshafts, rods, pistons, rings, pins, valves, valve seats, springs from California, camshafts from Florida, cylinder heads machined from raw castings in Wisconsin, etc. Cylinders machined in Wisconsin. Cases will be machined in Wisconsin moving forward.

Clutch comes from Switzerland, of course, transmission gears from the same supplier Rotax used, as well as quite a few parts from other suppliers who provided parts to Rotax.

The engine would never have existed without Rotax's great work with us originally, but it is in our hands now...

This seems like a pretty big bomb-shell to me. Whenever I see someone trying to crap on what EBR is doing (not sure why people seem to be motivated to do it, but they're definitely out there) their fall-back position (now that the 1190RS is clearly demonstrating itself to be a world-class bike) is: "American? Tell me again where the engine is made?"

It will be nice to be able to tell those blow-hards: "East Troy Wis."

That design is a secret for many good reasons.

I've been waiting for someone to ask . . . "if there are 36 of the most talented engineers in America, working 6 days a week, 12 hours a day . . . where's the output? . . . what's coming out the back door?"

I think most of us know the response by now. Something exciting that you will tell us about sometime...

Missed chatting with you at Homecoming this year Court and only saw you for a minute at RA. Hope all is well

So lets say it did have 40 HP less, what would that say about the chassis & brakes!!! HP is easier to come by than handling & feedback.

I picked up the magazine today. There is a lot of good info and seems to be a good write up. It is one that makes me proud to have a Buell flag in my garage.

I will be even happier when there is a more affordable model next year doing even better. ; )

Hey all,
Just a reminder for our monthly breakfast get together at the Red Rocks Grill in Morrison at 10am this Sunday July 1st. A group will also get together at Rocky Mountain HD at 8:30am, before breakfast, for a ride in the hills ending in Morrison.

Also, Henry just called me to let us know that he will be riding his EBR 1190RS down from Silverthorne to meet at Rocky Mountain HD for the ride to breakfast. If you would like to see this latest creation by Erik Buell and to meet Henry, please join us. I know a lot of you are interested in this bike. All Buellers are welcome!
John

Brinton,
We all get together twice a month. 1st Sunday of the month in Morrison at the Red Rocks Grill at 10am for breakfast (some meet before at RMHD for a ride in the hills). And, the 3rd Thursday of the month we meet for dinner around 6:30pm. Usually at Guidos Pizza in Lakewood, not far from Morrison. Send Greg an email to be added to our list.
