I wonder how much they cost. I mean minimal bills, get yourself a desalinator for fresh water. No land to buy, no ground rent to pay, no local property taxes. No double glazing salesmen or Jehovahs Witnesses banging on the door. Bit of a bugger for the postman though. Need a decent amphib vehicle to go shopping in, maybe a hovercraft. It's a retirement option. |

It's pretty cool but unless you park it outside of territorial waters, someone will figure out how to tax you on it. And if it's not in a sheltered cove you'd better stock up on the Dramamine. I'd vacation on it for a few days though. |

My best bud has lived on a houseboat for the better part of the past 15 years, many times when I go visit, I get a little jealous... no grass to mow, no roof to leak, almost always peaceful, very nice "scenery" for 2/3 of the year, fishing 100% of the time, yadda yadda... What I like about those units is their modular construction and high efficiency- would LOVE to try one out for a month's vacate. |

"you'd better stock up on the Dramamine" Just need to get your sea legs. A few days will do. Then your brain tells your ears and your eyes to get bent and ignores the conflicting information being reported by both. Wave action electrical generation might be a possibility too. |

has a nice design to it, I would spend a vaca on one - kind of reminds me of a yurt (much cheaper and easier to own and camp in) |

Jehovahs Witnesses banging on the door. You get that in France, too? I guess some things are universal no matter where a person is. |

Oh yes, we get em, generally our large dog somehow gets loose & appears leaping & barking at them. I don't know how it happens every time, it's uncanny. |
