Florida: we make burial plots for retirees from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Ohio, Maine, Maryland and Pennsylvania, to name a few. Some sailboats, fishing boats and lots of trailers, both for boats and to live in (and for tornados and hurricanes to consume). We build ambulances built on Dodge chassis to ship to NYC (just saw a fleet of NYC ambulances being built by a local ambulance builder being prep'd for shipment north. Some crazy big number of units per year for 5 or more years...?) We make citrus grow and the Mouse house rich. We make Coquillettidia Perturbans, the most dangerous creature on the face of the earth. |

This was made just a few miles from my house. In fact, I worked for Austal for a very brief time. I sometimes regret leaving but I was offered a lot more money and a better position with an excellent company, I just couldn't pass it up. Still, I got to spend some time crawling around in that ship while it was still being built. |

Thomas Buses are down the road a few miles from me in Thomasville. There are loads of things here, I cant name them all or start to try to compare the list on the first page. Lots of NASCAR teams. RJ Reynolds a few miles from me (different direction from Thomasville, both about 15m from me) JMS Graphics - they do most NASCAR team rigs, plus other racers in roadracings etc (also in my hometown of Welcome, along with RCR - Richard Childress Racing) Lexington and Thomasville Furniture. High Point (beside of Thomasville) is Furniture capital of world BBQ - Lexington (town next to mine) is BBQ capital of the world. If Im not mistaken Pepsi is from here. |

Just saw an op-ed piece about more businesses leaving Washington state the author was lamenting that all we do in this state is medicate, incarcerate, and educate And looking at the status of the schools, jails and hospitals with their 'performance' I dare say we don't even do those well. |

CA will have two bullet train projects going simultaneously - California High Speed Rail and DesertXpress. Last I heard, DesertXpress was still awaiting final approval of a federal loan, but I'm assuming they get the money because the line will terminate in Vegas and Harry Reid has thrown his weight behind it. Anyway, I'm hoping you guys like them because lots of federal money will be used to get each project finished. And CA's recently announced 15.7 billion deficit dovetails perfectly with these bullet trains, in a chaotic sort of way, don't you think? It all makes sense when you consider rule number one in government spending - why have one when you can have two at twice the price? (Message edited by boltrider on May 24, 2012) |

Domiracer is 4 miles from my house. I've never bought anything from them as I don't have any vintage stuff. But funny you mentioned Skyline Chili. I had four Coney dogs last night and I'm typing this in the bathroom. |
