Had a great time wheeling this weekend. Made it over 2 obstacles that I had gotten stuck on before. Plus I got to pull a couple of other jeepers out of some sticky situations. Winch = smart buy!

It is always hard getting up the end of those kind of swill tanks. I found the trick to be slowing down the last fifty feet, so that you don't push a wall of water up on top. Go the last few feet idling then give it enough gas to climb the wall just as the tires start up. I'm getting irritated at my tow rig. I have spent all of my Jeep working time, and money, keeping this 6.0 diesel running over the past year. If that time and money were spent on the Jeep as intended, I would have been up there trail riding with you by now. I guess it is time to sell it to move on to something other than a money pit. Damn shame......it is otherwise an awesome truck.

Slip Yoke Eliminator installed yesterday along with a belly up skid plate from Under Cover Fabworks. Drove it with only the front drive shaft installed to the local drive shaft store. (Drive Line One). They crawled under it, measured it up and I just got the call at 9 this morning. Its done! SWEET!! Less than 24 hours to get a custom length drive shaft! |

So, do we have to go there? How LONG will you be going on about your new shaft? Your front shaft must have been OK for you, but the one in your rear wasn't long enough? Did they use a synthetic grease when they put it in? Will this decrease high speed vibration? When you flex will it bottom out? My shafts are made in house, square tube, thicker skinned, full length slides, and they just feel good going down the road, or not road.

A small group of my dual-sport friends are headed to Southington for their dirt bike weekend this Saturday! Looking at your pictures, I'm extremely jealous! |

You would have a blast Mike. Its a 3 hour drive so I would put that 250 of yours on a trailer and head up. Camp out Saturday night and head home Sunday... campfire... few beers... Vern, you like talking 'bout shafts don't you?? Well greased shafts.... |

Drive shaft installed.... transfer case leaking ATF... I "THINK" it might be coming from the speedo cable plug/gear. Tightened it up a little. Fingers crosses Any word on your exhaust yet Jim? |

Well I talked to him last Thursday cause he couldn't go on each side of the transmission, have to run the duals along the passenger side. Drove by today and it was in the shop so I should be getting it back tomorrow. We'll see. |

Mark, speedo ends usually seal with O rings. You should be able to unscrew it without fluid leaking out(unless it is running). |

tightened it up a little last night... still leaking. I hope a new O ring does the trick |

Don't have time to post a pic but have you guys seen the jeep j12 prototype? Looks like the old Kaiser pickup. Man that's a sweet pickup. |

Mark the speedo gear carrier position before you pull it out to replace the o-ring. There are alignment marks and numbers or letters indication rotational position. Jeep has a chart of what marks line up according to the tooth count on the speedo gear. If the teeth on the gear are chewed up, it was incorrectly positioned when it was changed. I would send you a scan of the appropriate pages from the tech manual, but all my service literature went with my last Jeep. |

I think I got her fixed. I had to make a couple of trips to the auto parts store... who would've thought a O-Ring would be so hard to find! Drove it to work today, no ATF on the ground! I'll get under it again when I get home just to make sure... |

I'm good to go! Transfer case has no leaks... But then... I had a Check Engine Light come on, had them pull the code while at Advanced Auto dropping off wast oil. It was something to do with the evap canister. I asked the guy to clear it and he told me it was illegal for him to do so. "WTF?" Went home and disconnected the battery... but whats up with that? There are so many things it could be... gas cap... pinched line... blah blah blah. If it comes back on I'll pull your little bulb my pretty. |

Why would it be illegal to clear a code? If it is a recurring problem it will just light it up again. Many times a vehicle will throw a code for an evap sys problem when someone got gas and just did not tighten the cap enough to seal. Some will even do that if the engine is running when the gas cap is removed. |

Hey Vern.... how do you have your exhaust routed? I'm assuming that you have a pass side drop and that it goes over the transfercase. Any pics? I'll explain later............ |

I will get some pictures today. I run stock manifolds. A 'Y' pipe to single pipe and muffler to keep exhaust pressure up and noise down for woods running and water crossings. |

nevermind...... I thought you were running duals. My dough-head friend couldn't figure out how to run the exhaust because of space limitations. He did such a hackjob a literally laughed at him and asked WTF were you thinking?? You run a custom exhaust shop and you give me this? LOL I told him I was going to take a picture of it and put it in the local paper with a caption on the bottom stating "This is the type of work I'm capable of doing". I have to take a few pictures and show you guys. One of the most f-ed up exhaust jobs I have seen. I need to drop the transfercase another couple of inches so he can fit the exhaust over the top of it and do it right. |

Are you running long headers? I often thought of doing that by cutting a hole in each frame rail, welding in a through/ reinforcement pipe, then run the mufflers on each side outside of the frame rails kicking out the tail pipes in front of the rear tires. But on this Jeep I am looking only at low end torque and rigid dependable parts, so no headers and single pipe. |

No shorty headers. We talked about going on the outside of the rails but it isn't worth it since I'll be driving it on the streets too. |
