A Cessna 150/152, a fairly standard two seat trainer, has a gross weight of 1600 lbs. It comes with about 100hp - slightly more in the later models. This is with a fixed pitch prop, which is most efficient at one airspeed, and less so above/below that.
The Extra has a loaded weight of 1550 lbs, would usually fly at less than that, and has 340hp with a constant speed prop that can *always* get that full power transferred into the air.
It's like comparing a Blast with an XB12. Same general weight, slightly different power.
... and I really, REALLY need to either get out riding, or get out flying. One of the two. :-/
