At least you didn't have to JB weld the bearings in. |

More photos and info on the water-cooled XB project above: "Oh wow, quite the project. I started mine wanting to address 2 issues- the heat which the engine throws at me when riding in town (Orlando FL) and also to even out the temps between the front and rear cylinders. Quite the Frankenstein- 1125...R thermostat, VW Passat electric water pump, Aprilia RSV1000 radiator cap, Kawasaki 1200 radiator, Nissan Quest brake reservoir (coolant overflow tank), 9" pusher fan." Matt, I love a good kludge when I see one, but your picture makes me pucker. The water cooled sporty is interesting... wise or not, somebody sure is good at welding aluminum. |

Jeez, all that work to make a water cooled V-Twin? Why not just buy a 1125 or even a Suzuki/Ducati/KTM/Aprilia etc etc etc and save time, money and heartache? 'Because I can' sometimes gets a little too blinkered maybe? |

Is that a cable tie holding that bolt on? That is a pretty *&^& scary setup, even as bodges go. |

Barker- WHERE did you find that popo Buell? Did they TRY, perhaps by COMMITTEE, every thing possible to MAKE it fugly? If a LEO riding that tried to pull me over, I'd RUN just so I wouldn't have to look at it! |

The art of Bodge (And it is an art). My Dad used to use a phrase that has joined family history for bodges. "Not pretty but functional." An apt description in this case I think. |

Looking at that water/jacket thing, I don't see any advantage to doing it. 1. you're adding a whole lot of weight to a hardly sylph like lump. 2. It'll take forever to warm up & cool down. 3. the fuel consumption will be diabolical, what with the warm up time & all. If the plan was to install it in closed bodywork for streamlining purposes maybe. But as has already been pointed out there's whole lot better wet lumps out there. |
