Riding? You bet! All winter long. Been enjoying the new KLR, exploring lots of gravel roads I never wanted to take the street bikes on. Son came in from New Orleans over the Easter weekend and we took the road pig and the shovel out for a couple of hundred miles and some good burgers. The S2 bodywork is ready for its last cost of clear, then it's going back together in time for a few shakedown miles before the gathering in Arkansas. The XR600R project is basically done, just need to run it a little before I tear it down for paint. No political arguments for me...too much bike fun to be had! Retirement/unemployment (you choose) is all right! rt |

"The S2 bodywork is ready for its last cost of clear, then it's going back together in time for a few shakedown miles" I've seen that movie. It ended badly. Let hope "S2 Shakedown 2: Shiny Side Up" lives up to the hype. |

What Spidey said . . .! For those of us who have been around long enough to be able to tell the difference, and no longer care to wade through all the crap to find the stuff that BWB used to be about. I salute you, SIR! I have bikes to wrench, bikes to ride . . .and a life to live. If the BWB ever gets back to being the "critical Buell resource" that it once was, I will once again consider the BWB part of that life. |

Agreed. I haven't been here in months cause I couldn't handle what it was turning me into. I just became one more person lobbing arguments over the wall at the other team. It's a lot easier to keep restating some talking points that agree with my worldview than to actually listen to what people are saying and actually weigh it- at least for me. I know I'm young and I have a lot to learn (just a few years ago I would have been on the other side of that wall) but I'll be back now that riding season is back. I'll just stay away from the quick board when the hate and vitriol gets too high. But I can't make myself give up the people here and the information contained both on the boards and in the members themselves. And please, if you see me descending into childish political pissing matches again, call me on it. |

Not sure why some of you view the QB threads as "hate and vitriol". There are exceptions of course but most Badwebbers are thoughtful but concerned. You might actually learn something. I know I do and I enjoy the debate. I find it exceptionally strange that some try to stifle posting on a thread that is clearly labelled religious or political when no one is forcing them to open it. Really strange in fact. |

If anyone is looking for Buell content in the Quick Board, maybe give the actual moto-related topics a scan. Troubleshooting Knowledge Vault 1125 SBK Board Big Bad & Dirty (Uly) Board Old School Buell Thumper Forum XBoard The Tale Section Buell Racing Forum Cool Buell Pics Storm Fronts (Buell Riding Groups) In the last 24 hours the BadWeB Buell Forum recieved 441 new posts. Of those a whopping 13 posts where in political or religious oriented thread, while 36 showed up in the let's make fun of Char thread, which has since been removed. I enjoyed very much reading EricZ's thread about his latest turbo engine work, complete with photos of the cylinder heads. See Eric's own website documenting his XB Turbo project. Outstanding work! Crusty never fails to entertain. See his "Here's one way to sell parts" thread. It's worth a chuckle or three. I've been getting a ton of mileage lately from JRamsey's hilarious the pirate joke. Ya gotta tell it with your best swarthy pirate voice. Lots of the jokes in that thread are funny, but that one is classic! The "Tell me how to be seen" thread on the Quick Board is generating some interesting commentary. I've been here from the start. The place ebbs and flows with the times and cultural concerns of the day, but I really don't see much of a difference in decorum or community atmosphere. For a real treat, see Rob's www.CrotchRocket.tv video of Shawn Higbee winning the Heavyweight Twins race at the Streets of Willow course. Rob is nice enough to post a notice in the 1125R/CR forum when he uploads a new video. (Message edited by Blake on April 11, 2012) |

Thanks for the post Blake, it's those very things that brought me back. They are worth it. Reindog, I agree with you that everybody has a choice whether or not to open political or religious threads, but what keeps those topics in the correct places? I was just reading the HC2012 thread and people are popping up with their political opinions and using them as bludgeons against other members. What about people who want to skip all the political threads but still have to trudge through all the political (and personal) mudslinging to find out what hotel people are staying at? If you really don't see the hate, I'm not sure what to say. Do I think people actually hate each other here? No, I think that most, if not all, of the people who post here are good people. The problem is when they fail to see the people who disagree with them as real people. It is our natural reaction to think someone is stupid or evil because they disagree with us, which justifies good people to say all sorts of terrible things to each other. Go read any one political thread and put yourself in the position of the person being villified. I bet you can't go a page without finding something hateful. I'm ok with a good debate where everybody treats each other like grown-ups and real people. Actually I love a debate like that, but they are rare. The reality is I'm a fallen, selfish person with selfish motives and I will do anything to prove I'm right. |

Really strange in fact. Ditto. I also find it odd that some claim to have been avoiding the Badweb completely due to the non-motorcycle threads yet they somehow found this post. |

xbniner, Thank you for your reply but I think you are blowing things out of proportion. The Conservatives have been mostly cordial, logical, factual, and tenacious while debating. The non-Conservatives have a tendency to be emotional, refuse to argue with facts, change the subject when confronted, engage in name calling, try to stifle discussion, and just plain disappear. That said, not everyone fits into one or the other category. People like Buellkowski, Fahren, and Drkside are thoughtful and try to understand other's points of view. Same goes for Sifo, Fat Bastard, FB1, and Court from the other side of the ideological fence. I really don't see the hate that you claim to see. Listen, there will always be wingnuts no matter if the topic is Obama or O-rings. Ignore them and learn from knowledgeable people with experience. It will make you richer.

Thanks for speaking your truth. I know where you come from and am sometimes guilty of the same thing. That is when turning on the Receiver and suppressing the Transmitter will help you truly learn about others who may not agree with you. |

I think BWB is the same but different. Heck in 2000 I was told I was a Fat ass not a bad ass. I was accused of being a liar and a cheat. And someone revealed the news that I wear burlap pantaloons. I do miss all that fun The thing is....for all you young whipper snappers, is ya just can't take it. Why... I used to walk to the races up hill both ways and in the snow and I had to seat the bead of tires on the rim with a bicycle hand pump. I hadta fix everything with a crescent wrench and some duct tape. Youze guys are soft, I tell ya....soft and squishy. Put on your big boy pant and HTFU! And if yens you don't get my humor....you ARE noobs! S-man...you have changed. I remember when you were single and irresponsible. Hell I remember when you would go prancin around in ladies underthings....for a dollar! In the hills of North Georgia...I seen it with my own eyes!!(wishin I was usin someone elses) |

I disagree with your assessment. If someone who agrees with your assessment can put up a +1, and that's acceptable, then someone who disagrees should be able to put up a -1. Don't you agree? |

Crusty, I am just curious about why you disagree. When people agree, that tends to be a mutual admiration society which doesn't have as much meaning or opportunity to learn as when people disagree. Do you disagree with everything I posted and if not, which statements do you disagree with and why? I am an engineer and we seldom if ever, agree on anything. I believe I have made truthful, verifiable observations about the behavior of Badweb members. I made the disclaimer that not everyone can be categorized but there are most definitely tendencies which I will not repeat here. You have been around a long time and are a valuable Badweb member. But I truly get have gotten the sense over time that you get upset by debate and opposing viewpoints. Which is fine. My wife and I argue all the time but we also love and trust each other. I guess my world view extends from that position and I have an inherent trust in 90% of Badwebbers. You must be smart if you made it here. |

Why so serious? I don't understand all the complaints, I'm rarely surprised by a thread title. Open and browse what floats your boat, ignore the rest. I like the better debates, this place would be very vanilla without them IMHO. Go to the "bike" threads for bike only content, Quick board is a catch all no? |

"Oh, and I have stabbed myself in the eye with a scribe and not whined so much.... Ha Ha Ha Ha" And severely mashed your fingers in a trailer door and hardly whined at all. Been here since the beginning. Dingbats, trolls and cry babies; seen 'em all come and go. First knew Blake from another board before this one began. It has it's ups and downs but it's still a good board. G |

-1 Reindog!!! I couldn't believe your post! Then again this is a motorcycle board and there shouldn't have ever been any reason to post it to begin with! do you have any motorcycle riding stories to talk about? Since this is a motorcycle forum. Then I might remove you from the negative side. |

Cyclonedon, Do YOU really need to be reminded ONCE again that QB is for non-motorcycle related topics? I enjoy the debate. If you don't like the debate, then don't open the thread. It is really quite tiring to have to repeat this to people who apparently have a wad of wax in their ears. Many people on Badweb are my friends and have been so for a long time. I have owned three Buells since 2000 and currently own a 2009 XB12XP. Buells are one of the better parts of my life. The Uly and I are headed to Miller on Memorial Day with Buellers who shall remain unnamed. These are some of the reasons why I am here and will continue to be here. PS: In my posting that you seem to have trouble with, I neglected to mention and give kudos to The Blake Monster. He has already spoken and political/religious thread which you don't have to open will continue to be part of Badweb. |

I'd love an old airhead as well, had a line on one but somebody beat me too it. I wouldn't choose one with a tank that looks like it came straight out of an old Dr. Who episode though. |

High CG encourages one to keep moving across a sandy desert road. High volume gets one from one low octane Pemex station to the next.
