When I first heard that they were doing a stooges movie I balked, nothing could touch the originals but I have to admit I'm planning on seeing this right after the titans movie.

I saw some previews in the TV. I'll give it a miss.

I'd be more excited about the new movie if the initial lineup of Jim Carrey, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Torro could have been afforded. That being said i'll still see it

Ummm- given that I grew up watching the originals, plus Shemp, I just can't bear the idea of this movie.

Heck, true story- I've even got the Shemp Meditation Tape, ordered it years ag from WFMU...

The only thing that would make me want to see this movie is if somehow, the descendants of the Stooges were receiving decent royalties. IIRC, despite their popularity, they signed a "contract with the devil", and consequently never received NEAR their fair share of the $$$.

I do love these guys! Just can't fathom how this movie would work AT ALL.

I look at it like the "The older I get the better I was" thing. Besides, it can't be any more of a disappointment than any of the other movies I have seen in recent memory.

I am sure it will have some good laughs and merits of it's own. I can use a good laugh.

Remakes are great for the generations that were too young to have caught/lived through the originals.

But if you were there the first time around - they almost invariably (there have been rare exceptions) disappoint.

At 40yo, I obviously didn't see the originals, but I grew up watching the reruns which still make me laugh today.

Any remake has to stand on it's own merit. I don't look for this movie to be a continuation of the original, but rather a fitting tribute.

I'm sure my 7yo would think it is funny, so we just might have to go.

never cared for the originals
nor the 2.o 'extreme' version of today ... ie JACKASS / Nitro Circus.

you can only get poked in the eye or nailed in the nards so often before it becomes over done.

The "Jackass" movies were inspired by a skateboarding video produced by Big Brother magazine, called- yes, the "Shit" video. None of the "Jackass" films came anywhere close to being as good as this one...

2/3 completely unbelievable footage of the best skateboarding I've EVER seen, around the US, plus 1/3 hilarious/retarded/illegal stunts, all put together with great music- for what it is, the production was great too.

Lost my copy DANGIT, but by best bud has a copy I made for him...

Highly recommended, provided your sense of humor is badly bent like mine!

I saw the movie last night. Got all snuggled in with my 55 gallon barrel-o-coke and the extra huge popcorn.

I will say it was worth the ticket price, and it stands on it's own merit. There are quite a few things that get you completely by suprise, and some outrageous bits.

It captures the essence of the stooges, if at times it is a bit watery. At least somebody had the guts to try.

It has been since my childhood days that something caught me so off guard as to get the "twin streams of coke through the nostrils" effect. One of the gags did it for me last night.

Don't try to intellectualize the movie. It is a good dose of what the original was all about. Pure stupid schtick.

Fast, that's GREAT news, thanks for the input.

IMHO, they were a trio of unique geniuses (plus good ole Shemp later), who deserve a high pedestal in comic history.

Was as good as it could be. I think it was true to form and they never went blue through the whole movie. Good, clean fun.

I for one am glad they did not get Carrey or any other larger talent. Carrey's movies have been mediocre as of late, but even if not, he would have overtaken the character.

Was also glad to see that the Jersey Shore aspect of the movie was really minor. It played it's small part in the plot and nothing more.

It did feel like 15 years worth of gags crammed into an hour and a half, but never tedious. A worthy tribute.
