Came out of an appointment today to my orange 06 Uly, parked at the curb. 2 guys looking at it. "Hey, where's that bike from?" One guy asks. I rest my hand right next to the "American Motorcycles" badge, and reply "Wisconsin". "Really? That's American made? Hmm..." And they walk away, nearly disappointed-looking. Weird. |

Had my first ever encounter with someone who thought the Uly was an Italian bike. Great conversation ensued. |

Still love the looks the XB12s gets. Was at an A&W last year near Mt. Horeb, WI. Looked out the window and there were 2 guys walking around her and pointing. It's not the usual run of the mill "ricer" and thats just ONE of the many reasons I love her. Thanx again EB and all of the elves that made it happen |

"-buell yeah, but who makes it?" I had that conversation with a police officer in 1999. 80 in a 65. |

Love paying my premium when my insurance company, Dairyland, classifies my 1125R as an HD cruiser. Full coverage, a little over $300.00/yr. YEA! They did not have a listing for it alone and actually did not know of Buell in 2008 so they went with an HD listing. Gotta love it! Bob |

love the Joe Dirt quote. I had a similar thing happen two weeks ago (or was it three...) anyway, I pull up at a Mexican restaurant and sit outside. Im holding my jacket and helmet and this guy says (who is also sitting outside and saw me pull up), "is that you on that motorcycle?" I reply that it was "what kind of bike is that?" "1125R, a buell" "who makes it?? "buell" "yeah, but I mean, is it, like, a honda or kawasaki or what? I mean, who makes it?" "buell" "yeah, I know, but Im saying, what company makes it" At this point another person at a different table pipes up and says "buell is the brand, the mans been trying to tell you that" The guy then went on to tell me about his friend that has a CBR1000 and one time he was on the back of his friends bike as he did wheelies at 160mph. "cool...... " He quit talking to me after that. |

Dairyland doesn't know about Buell? They did in 2000 when I bought mine. Had to go with them because All State wanted $3600 yr. full coverage. Agent said they didn't write bike policies, now I get mail all the time from them wanting to insure my bike. They've seen the light, or want more money. |

Its great that our bikes are still garnering attention after the shutdown, & people still feel it was a dumb thing for Harley to have pulled the plug on a great line of bikes. Forced Erik to his happiness though. "Had my first ever encounter with someone who thought the Uly was an Italian bike." I've had mine mistaken for a Ducati, but usually people think its a beemer, because of the bags I am guessing. Had the XT parked in the parking lot outside the classroom. A curious student was checking it out during break. "BMW?" "Nope, Buell". "Where's it made?" "Nowhere anymore, used to be Wisconsin" "Wow. Really? Nice bike". Another student who rode a Vespa, was bashing Buells. Pretty ballsy, or dumb, to bash the instructors bike. One more student (interesting class) said he was a huge fan of Buells and knew it was a Ulysses. Strangely enough, or not, he was a 1% er who rode a HD. If I was gonna go to the dark side of the law, I think the Uly, with its big honking bags and nimble handling, would be a perfect outlaw bike! |

Yeah, the Joe Dirt quote was done that way (Spade is actually a Mopar guy) because folks in an audience / focus group knew what "posi traction" was. "SureGrip"? Uhhh....wha? |

I get asked all the time if my X1 is a Ducati. Once a person walking by, read the tank & asked..."French?" |

My favorite was an octogenarian who walked around my M2 two or three times, then he spotted me sitting at a picnic table, grinned like a chesshire cat and said, "The only thing I'd like to ride more than that is Dolly Parton..." |

I always tell them that my motorcycle is a Buell, it's a half of a Harley. That's it's only down-fall, the Harley ownership! just think that if I purchase a new EBR motorcycle, I'll no longer be able to say that! |
