Wolf, I am glad to hear she is showing signs of improvement. I was just in Marietta two weekends ago. I rode the Uly 1500 mile round trip to tour the south eastern Ohio roads. I am from southern NJ and would have welcomed a meeting with you to give my regards and a card for your family during this difficult time. I am sorry that I am reading this now after the fact. Best of luck amigo, I am hoping for the best. |

Well, I mailed a card last night before you posted to the Hospital. Hopefully, they'll forward it. |

what a difference a day can make.... Her white blood cell count is way off. Her homecoming has been put on hold and a oncologist is going to pay her a visit today. not the kind of news we wanted to hear. |

Just got back from WV. She is home and doing better. She is going to have to use a walker for awhile and that is just hard for her to face. The amount of pills she has to take is unreal but that should be a temporary thing also. She is still somewhat numb from the chest down, but the disease works its way up from the feet... and it goes away in reverse order. I cant thank everyone for all the cards and letters! |

Now look, Mark; She's just going to have to heal up a bit faster. The local drug stores are running out of cards for me to choose from; AND I'm running out of ideas on what to write in the cards I do find. Obviously, if I can't come up with funny cards anymore, then she's just going to have to pull her share of the load and get well quicker. Seriously, I'm glad she's home and on the road to recovery. It may look like a long way from here, but one step at a time and she'll get there. And with all the prayers and positive energy being directed her way, she'll get there quicker than she expects. |

Hey, look; all I've done is send some humorous cards to a friend's Stepmom. There's no need to set up a lynching party!
After my stint in the hospital in March, I discovered just how much a little thing like a card helped lift my spirits. I had quite a few folks send me cards, and I vowed to try to pass it forward. If any of my cards made Judy feel better, even if only for a minute, then they were worth the effort I put into sending them. |

Any news? Should we continue to send cards? What's happening? |

She is sounding a LOT better. She is going to be going to rehab for a long time to get back to where she was before... But, I don't even know if that is possible. I just got off the phone with her and it sounds like the people at rehab put her thru the mill. She said she went straight for the couch and laid down. I don't think there is any need to keep the letters coming unless you want to send one... she loves to get them Thanks again everyone! |

Just a quick update. Her therapist has had her using a cain while at therapy. She also told me she was able to stand up and take a shower. The thing that has her twisted up the most is not being able to be around other people. Her immune system is still compromised so she has about another month of nothing but family members. |

Thanks buddy! Given that we've just had Mother's Day come and go, I do hope you and yours had a great one with your Momma! Idea: If she has to use a cane, see if you can find a "fancy" one, maybe a carved wood cane of some sort. I've always appreciated folks who sport a beautifully carved and decorated walking cane- to me they seem to elevate the nature of having a walking disability just a bit. When the time comes (hopefully) that she no longer needs it, it will always be a great conversation piece- and if she needs it again someday, it'll be there. If you try this idea, be sure to measure the height of the one she's using, BTW... |

Oh yeah- often these canes can be made to have a shiv/knife of some sort hidden in the handle, in case you'd like to "weaponize" her... |

The thing that has her twisted up the most is not being able to be around other people. More cards would probably help with that. At least she'd be having some contact outside of the immediate family. I'll have to see what the drugstore has for humorous cards. |
