If the team did blow up three engines at Daytona, if I was on the team, my response would be "Oh well, I guess we didn't need to pack all 5 spares in the truck after all".
It's racing. Honda recommends replacing the piston in their CRF-450 after 10 hours of amateur racing. So does my kid's Kawasaki.
I wonder what the other AMA Superbikes have for rebuild intervals? I wonder if it's every race, every other race, or ever third race? I bet its not any higher than that.
I'm thrilled EBR is learning how to make stupidly durable street bike engines by racing. I'm not bothered at all that they blew three of them up at Daytona in a season opener.
to throw my valve in the mix back in june 09' I blew mine up by you guessed it a valve breaking (it was exhaust, idk if thats what theirs were) and this was on the STREET...idk if its any coincidence but I may of had the very first account of a valve breaking if i remember correctly...because BMC and HD didnt have ANY clue of ANYTHING like it happening...still havent heard the cause either...
Also when this happened as you can see the valve and valve seat blew off and went through the piston and into the crankcase...btw i still rode it about 3 miles home after it happened...there was so much black smoke coming out of it that i STOPPED traffic...on the FREEWAY lol
Then what happened? Speed said mechanical failure. No one else has any pics or good stories about it. What gives? The privateers were quick to show the carnage that happened inside their $40,000 bikes. I'd love to know.
Nope. Unlike all of you I don't have the time nor inclination to try and find any information here. The bias is so blinding I'd rather just stick to facts. Like I said, you know what happened? Then why not tell? I'm anxious to find out too. And no I didn't keep up with last years races. Too much else to keep up with. Why not enlighten us all with whatever knowledge you seem to have? Or you gonna pull a Courtney and remind us to ask you sometime?
Unlike all of you I don't have the time nor inclination to try and find any information here
So you would rather just spread BS lies? Not cool.

Then why did you lie?

I don't know what happened, but nobody but you said Danny had a valve issue. All I've heard is what Reepi said that Danny had a bad vibration and pitted, and the cause of it was not determined yet.
Again there is no need to be a dick. If you want to be one, take your posting elsewhere.
Smoke you don't know what happened and the folks here that do may not want to say. Me I think EBR needs to do the old Ferrari deal; they never had engine failure. If a car stopped it was because of electrical problems.
Danny had a vibration. Geoff had engine failure. 4 bikes started two races and two bike finished. Not great, not horrible just racing.
Lie? Listen here. I posted the information I could find. Because I don't have your savvy computer skills, I asked for further information and you still have none to produce. I post one pic I found in a search about Daytona and you start blasting me? You are the one that needs not be a dick Frank. If you can't answer the questions posed, then I'd appreciate you not responding. That cool for you?
I saw Geoff May's bike at the track when it was unloaded after race 2. It had oil on it. Geoff also posted what he thought happened, saying he red lined it too long.
Oil dripping, I assume is a "blown up motor".
Danny pulled his bike out of race 1. Everyone that was a civilian that was hanging out back in the garage was a little mystified because that bike engine was crated and they brought out a new engine.
I would assume that they did this because they were determined to get Danny back out for race 2, and they did so successfully.
It is not public knowledge what exactly happened to Danny in race 1 because I am not sure if they know that yet.
I asked Erik myself on Saturday, before race 2, what happened with Danny's bike in race one. He said Danny felt a vibration he was uncomfortable with and he pulled out of the race.
End of story for now. Erik seemed to be in full support of Danny's judgement and focused on race 2 coming up.
Nobody is lying to you.
You think that what Boogi is posting about "blown motors on three bikes" equals valve failure on three bikes is correct.
He doesn't have that information based on fact.
Do you?
No.
So what the hell is your problem???
That photo is of Shawn Higbee's bike. Shawn rode an 1190 RS and that is what happened to his bike. Boogi worked on Shawn's pit crew and that is where that photo came from.
Sh*t, I am not mechanically inclined myself, but I understand what happened because I was there. That is the information you get for now.
You expect Erik himself to be posting a full analysis of Danny's bike on badweb a few days after the race?
Lie? Listen here. I posted the information I could find.
Ok, where did you see that Danny lost a valve? I haven't read every single post regarding Daytona, but before you posted I heard nothing about Danny having a valve issue.

Where? You mean after you were called out for spewing incorrect information?

Yep, because apparently you have a reading comprehension issue resulting in you not seeing that it was the Higbee bike, including it including a picture of Higbee in the same post. You somehow also picked up that Eslick damaged a valve, reposted that pic falsely attributing it to him. All I did was point out your mistake, and you got pissy.

Actually I did respond to your questions, but apparently the reading comprehension issue arose again.

Nope. Last warning to chill out. Read your posts and mine again, have a friend read them if necessary. I'm not drinking any coolaid, unlike you I am just posting what has been reported.
Char is correct that is Shawns Or Robs 1190s Tim and I pulled the 1190 apart while Boogi Set up Shawns 1125. We looked down the intakes pulled the Throttle bodies and Handed poorer Rob the aluminum we fished out with duct tape. We ran out of time to change a second motor and get Shawn qualified even if Rob could deal on a spare engine since EBR brought complete engines instead of doing repairs at Daytona. At that point we fliped the garage and the Efforts were to get Shawns 1125 set up and broken in. Tim continued on with the 1190 He pulled the header so we could see the valves thats when Boogi took that pic. Read Robs post about EBR working on the 1190 Please send him a Badwebber contribution for the rebuild. For all those wanting to see what the Rob Shawn etc did at Daytona Look at Crotchrocket tv in a few weeks. To the whiners step up and play at AMA if you have what it takes Rob Erik and the teams have it by the train load
