So... I guess I will tell the story of meeting Danny Eslick last weekend before I get back to the daily grind. Michael and I were walking around the garages last Friday, and we came across the #69 Hero pit bike for Danny Eslick. We were checking it out when this guy comes out of the building we are next to. I, being the complete dork that I am, thought that the guy (who was wearing a Hero pit crew shirt, shorts and flip flops) was one of the pit crew. So, me, being my usual self, think, that I can score a pit crew shirt. It doesn't hurt to ask. So I say to this kid, "Hey, give me that shirt!!!" He laughs at me and says, "But it is the only one I have!" Then I say to him, "Well, then give me your pit pass!"... while I grab his pit pass and take a look at it to make sure it has a large "P" on it. To my surprise, it is not a pit pass at all, but a racer ID... and it belongs to Danny Eslick!!! So I yell, "OMG!!! You are Danny Eslick!!!" To my defense, I have only ever seen him in race leathers... or when he is on a bike. I was sooooooo emberassed. I asked him if I could get a photo with him. He was laughing his a** off. But he said, "Sure!" Michael took these photos of me and Danny and the bike. He is such a good sport, really, a fantastic guy. Anyone else probably would have said, "Get away from me you lunatic!" I also got an EBR shirt with Erik's, Danny's and Geoff's signature. What a great day that was!    (Message edited by Whatever on March 20, 2012) | ||

Hmmm.... I'm more curious about the bike. They don't sell Hero motorcycles in this country so how did they manage to get one into the U.S? Don't vehicles have to go through some sort of EPA certification to be driven legally? | ||

Not too sure on that one... maybe it was exempted from EPA because it is for race use only?  | ||

It was a pit bike. There is likely some way for EBR to import test vehicles as long as they don't try to sell them. There are a list of ways to bring in non-compliant vehicles; the bike can't be licensed for the street or sold but you can sure ride them around the pits. | ||

Sorry I have no shirt for you, Joe. They were not selling any E_B_R or H_E_R_O shirts or other do dads. Your best bet is to check out ratpackrecords(dot)com and see what they have. Some of their stuff on there is really cool. | ||
