Because he is part of a company that has about 20 people on staff, fielding two new bikes, with one new rider, based on sponsorship that didn't appear until about a month before the race. Do you have any idea how much prep that takes? EBR has two teams they had to plan for and support. If Rodrob was a third EBR team, then there would have been EBR preparations for them.

If they had the time and money to field another trailer with full spares for all possible failures, they would probably have loved to have do so. But their time and resources are finite, just like yours.

Rodrob could have brought a "b" bike as well. But he couldn't, because he has finite time and resources as well.

At least EBR and Rodrob are actually out there fighting and racing. You are just bitching and criticizing something you never even tried to do.

How much money did you throw Rodrobs way? Why didn't *you* send enough to allow them to have a B bike on hand?

Your current profits from EBR is $0. Rodrobs profits are probably -$120,000. Erik's current profits from EBR are likely -$2,000,000. You have made $120,000 more on racing then Robrob has made, and $2,000,000 more from EBR than Erik has.

And you can't pony up a measly $40k so Rob has a spare bike? What kind of idiot jerk are you?

At least not a sycophantic one.

And I've hurled zero personal insults unlike YOU

Rob is sitting there with a bent (but not broken) dream, and empty checkbook. And you are proposing he now blame EBR for the fact that is race is over.

Shawn Higbee has given up great job offers to keep his racing dream alive, and is now sitting in front of a broken bike. And you are making an assertion that it didn't need to happen, it was just somebody's obvious lack of regard that caused it to happen.

EBR is watching, against all odds, a dream come true... and is fighting tooth and nail to get through perhaps the most challenging race weekend of the entire season, and you are publicly accusing them of being indifferent, unconcerned, or unprepared.

This thread was celebrating it, and you just peed all over it.

How the &*&* do you figure that's not a personal insult?

Just because you are apparently pathologically oblivious to the pain you inflict on the people around you, it doesn't mean they don't feel it.

I didn't see the pulled post, but I'm not sure how someone could claim to be a supporter but sling arrows when things don't go perfectly. Sounds like a fair weather fan.

...and just in case someone wonders, I do have an investment in the 1190RS teams, so call me biased.

And I did let emotion get the best of me, for which I apologize Ducxl.

When I called you an idiot jerk, it was to point out that you *aren't* an idiot jerk. You just didn't have $40k to send Rob so he has a spare bike. Absolutely understandable. But it was to illustrate the point that EBR and RobRob don't have infinite resources either, and that its not appropriate or fair to accuse either of being "unprepared". Going for a big hairy audacious goal and not making it because you ran out of time and money (but not heart) is a thing to be celebrated... not a thing to be attacked.

Robrob... hip hip... horay! Congratulations for having the heart to go for your (and our) dream!

From an old cheesy movie: Getting pinned is a whole lot closer to winning than never stepping onto the mat.

I should have stayed positive. I publicly apologize again Ducxl.

This gives me the coolest idea. The EBR warranty for the 1190 RS should read:

Engine and powertrain unconditionally guarenteed for 1 year, 10,000 miles, or the Daytona AMA superbike race. Whichever comes first.

How cool would that be?!?!

no support... go look at the pics Court posted in "Court in Session"

I also wouldn't be surprised if it was all hands on deck attempting to get Rob's/Shawns bike back up and running as I'm typing this.... some of the stuff that can happen at the track is amazing.

Hey GUYS Its racing We put a new 1125 motor in Shawns bike Thanks to EBR! Chased down the electrical gremlins so we are good to go with the 1125r

EBR is there to Race not as a Vendor supporting racers
EBR engineers helped with Wiring issues we have 08 bike with Racing harness and a 2010 motor. In short were here working on the Bikes and EBR has been very helpful

We have great BadWeb members working 12+ hours a day to get the bikes ready.

The 1190r dropping the valve may be a blessing in disguise When we were pulling the 1190 motor we found the lower shock end where it attaches to the swing arm broken if the other ear had broken when Shawn was running 150 mph he could have been severely injured.

We will be back at it @ 7am

Bill,

Your words were mild compared to what I'm inclined to unleash.

Greg,

Your behavior here in this thread has been outright rude, and just plain mean-spirited. You need taught some manners. Objecting to being called out on your miserable behavior by hurling epithets like "sycophant" only mires you deeper in the pit of mean-spirited arrogance into which you've sunk.

Take a time out, and don't return until you can be respectful of Erik Buell and the whole EBR team.

Learn the meaning of words before you use them trying to make yourself feel good by hurting others.

respectful: Feeling or showing deferential regard for.

friendly: Favorably disposed; not antagonistic

thoughtful: Having or showing heed for the well-being of others and a propensity for anticipating their needs or wishes.

arrogant: Making or disposed to make claims to unwarranted importance or consideration out of overbearing pride.

sycophant: A servile self-seeker who attempts to win favor by flattering influential people.

Excerpted from The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language

I've yet to find a sycophant among BadWeBrs. It's a decades old accusation that the miserable jerks make when confronted about their miserableness.

Thanks for the update Ken! Glad you found the shock issue... I wonder how long that's been lurking.

Was it the shock (on the shock)? Or the place where the shock mounts (swingarm)?

I like racing just because its cool, and I like people racing on a different kind of machine using different approaches even more, because it's just really interesting to me as an engineer. Kind of a "Chess is cooler than checkers" thing.

But as a consumer, I like bikes that are derived from bikes that race, because you discover things after a few laps of Daytona that would take forever to show up in production.

I wonder who's 1125 had to give up their engine?!?! If somebody here took one for the team and is hitchhiking home, the beer is on me!!! : )

Cool story on Roadracingworld.com:

http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?artic le=47572

Geoff May had the third fastest trap speed at 205.32 MPH!!!

Unfortunately he's only 10th place in the first round of qualifying, but I suspect things will pick up.

LOL. Maybe the BMW S1000RR can draft the EBR bike on the straights to make up for the BMW's lack of power.

(Just kidding, but that was SO much fun to type... : ) )

Geoff must be riding that thing *really* smartly... I think he and Danny working together will be able to do some pretty neat things...
