Winter does terrible things to motorcycle riders. Hopefully as warmer weather comes over the states we will see less banter on badweb. Here's to the 2012 season! |

Dunno but I'd like to see the religious and political sections set to where you have to log in to see them. You REALLY want to get pissed off so then you can go there. It often does give off a bad smell. |

Nonsense. This argument comes up with predictable regularity. Don't like a thread in particular? Don't read it. Don't participate in it. Simple. Job done. I personally stay away from the religious threads as they don't float my boat. But I am glad that they are here. Badweb always has been and always will be more than just about Buells. Others have started Buell BBs which have become nothing more than sterile deserts in a sea of bland. We are Badwebbers who have diverse interests far from the land and sea of bland. We should all be grateful for the hard work, zeal, and dedication that FB1 and others have put in here recently. (Message edited by reindog on March 15, 2012) |

Why can't the ranting politico/religious threads be consigned to the backfire board. I have to admit coming here - expecting to be aggravated, but I also admit coming here less and less for moto-discussions. I also wonder how the sponsors feel about the value THEY receive from having these overtly political and religious discussions on what was at one time primarily a sportbike board.. |

Ranting is a very negative word. I find these threads to be educational and enlightening.

Badweb primarily IS a sportbike board. Stay away from Quickboard which is only ONE outpost on Badweb. (Message edited by reindog on March 15, 2012) |

One man's "shit" is another man's patriotism; opinions are funny things. I'd wager that over 99.99% of the various posts on BWB on a daily basis are motorcycle related. There are more political threads showing up now on the QB because of the upcoming election. These threads are easily avoided (someone "annotated" them as such yesterday; Blake must be taking some heat about this issue). The stuff I post represents considerable lost self-employment income for me, lately in the range of $50-$75 a day. Over a two-week pay period that's a considerable hit. I've taken the time to post here, instead of on a dedicated "political" thread, in the hopes of opening a mind or two that may otherwise not have even given a passing thought to politics in general, and the importance of the upcoming election. It certainly isn't because I don't have anything better to do, nor is it because I'm at a loss of anything motorcycle-related to say. I honestly don't understand why "politics" is such a dirty word, especially considering what we're all up against this election cycle, and especially when the folks participating in a political thread are being civil, thoughtful and respectful in their discourse. These threads, as mentioned, are easy to avoid. Blake and I have visited a bit on how best to "talk politics" on BadWeB without alienating the folks who find the subject distasteful. I didn't think it was a big enough deal to warrant "formal" changes, but that's obviously just one man's opinion. I really don't know how to do anything half-way; I'm either all-in, or not at all. I'm alarmed at what I see happening here in America. I know not everyone shares my view, but that's the beauty of respectful discussion and honest debate - everyone has a chance to state their case. Your opinion might not prevail in the end, but everyone comes out of the process better informed, IMO. All this said: I'll ramp down. Tom/Tnxbrider is a sponsor here, and well respected in the m/c community. Me, I'm just a guy trying to save America, one post at a time. Blake can make the call on how to proceed with all of this; maybe the few political threads will simply die off on their own with no further intervention. FB |

I also wonder how the sponsors feel about the value THEY receive from having these overtly political and religious discussions on what was at one time primarily a sportbike board.. I would guess that sponsors care about eyes seeing their adds. This is counted as hits on the internet. Of course they want a certain audience seeing their adds. This would be Buell riders in this case. We pretty much are all Buell riders here, so that's great for the sponsors. I don't really think they would care about the content of the discussion going on, as long as their message is being seen by Buell riders. It's about the target audience, not what the content the audience is viewing when they see their add. I always find it funny how it's only politics that folks complain about, not all the other off topic threads. This is the section for the off topic threads BTW. It's where off topic threads get sent from other sections of the board. I can understand if you don't like it. Don't go to that section then.

Funny you posted that TNXBRIDER, I stopped in to check on the riding game, (sad) only to find it in the archives..on the bright side the 1125r forum keeps it real for the most part, you know the black sheep of Buell! Lol Sweet speed post I made it to 154, but the wind had the front end floating...the simple joys in life! |

I stopped in to check on the riding game, (sad) only to find it in the archives.. That thread didn't get "bumped" to the archives due to a few political threads, it ended up there (like any other of a million threads in the archives) due to lack of activity. It's easy enough to bring it back out to the active QB page; provide a link to the thread and I or a custodian can move it back out. Best, FB |

Unfortunately, there is more at stake with this election that at any other time in history. I'd LOVE to ignore politics. The problem is that ignorance has gotten us to where we are today. In then end, motorcycle manufacturer, seller, and buyer all will be affected by what happens. |

BS. I have been an active Badweb member since 2002. I am going on a Buell club ride all weekend which has a high probability of being in the rain so I can not be accused lack of enthusiasm for the brand or the sport or badweatherbikers.com. If politics or religion or guns or photography or bows/arrows or movies or tv shows or cures for fungus on toenails are suppressed on Badweb, I immediately tender my resignation from this great website. Bumpus, I would expect this from Nancy Pelosi and her gang but NOT from you. Sponsor or don't sponsor. That is your decision. Threatening will just turn this place into bland land. As FB1 pointed out, 99% of posts are not political/religious but mostly motorcycle. Court, Ferris, Blake, and all my friends: I hope I don't have to leave Badweb but you can reach me at t r e i n e r at the place called gmail in the event I am forced to go dark. Everything that FB1 posted above is truth. America is in grave danger where open dissent is in danger. (Message edited by reindog on March 15, 2012) (Message edited by reindog on March 15, 2012) |

The biggest problem has been the lack of a bunch of new models of our favorite brand of motorcycles, that we can all buy, ride, and farkle, to talk about. I have been amazed at the depth and number of Buell riders/owners who have not dropped out of BadweB because of the situation. Good thing that damned Uly is still a great bike. But then, a lot of good folks who changed brands, because it is in their nature to trade around every year or two, are still here showing us their new stuff. I am in no hurry to purchase a new bike. I have 43,000 miles to go on my '06 Uly before it hits 100,000 miles. That is the marker for me to buy a new one. Hopefully Erik will have the 'Ax' ready to grind by then! |

I was kinda supprised with Tom's vehemence on the politics but I choose to socialize here rather than say face book, because I enjoy the folks. I can understand at times it gets old, but its a worth while thing to discuss here OH BTW MY X1 has 48,888 miles on it as of last night, time for a rear tire & crank seal.... the 1125r has almost 8K miles and I rode it today, I have the hot frame and the cluster drain issues but the warranty ran out sitting in the garage with me in AR, so I will live with it. still love 'em buells |

So if we were all sitting around a bar top at B'dubs, aka Buffalo Wild Wings as a Buell group could we only talk about bikes? I view this board as friends just hanging out shooting the bull. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm sure you will, pal. I posted this 9/11/08. The thread title was, "This is a motorcycle forum right?" Had to pull it from the backfire board so these threads pop up every once in a while. It was fun to go back and read it. |

I will chime in here. I rarely, if ever, post anything about politics on this forum, although I am politically engaged, well informed, and have strong opinions on the matter. However, I really enjoy reading what others post, even when I don't agree. I find many of the posters here to be among the most intelligent, interesting and well-educated persons I have ever listened to. The Quick Board has become my main interest on the Buell forum. Funnily enough, I rarely visit the motorcycle-related stuff anymore because when I first got my M2, I read virtually everything on tubers and it was a gold mine. I hardly ever have any problems with my bike (knock on wood) so ... it's usually Quick Board for me. BTW, I also ride all year around although I admit that the Road King is my go-to bike for cold weather. |
