Wow - that driver was board! Begs the question: what's a tuba for?
Seriously, scary stuff. Hope he was ok - coulda been dead instantly from something like that. The trailer guy should not have been in the passing lane. The truck should not have passed on the right (and had his load secured!). The driver should have had a larger following gap.
Bad bunch of driving in that group. No 'out' planning, too close to see something like a board coming with no response time. Sure happens quick!
I took a 2X4X about 10", in the shin on my Uly a couple of years ago. ATGATT gave me the padded ballistic pants to make it no big deal even though I was doing 70 mph.
Badlions I am not a trucker and I saw a bunch in that video that irritates me. I HATE those that choose to stay parked in the left lane instead of moving into the right lane and only passing on the left. If people respected driving more and the punishment for poor driving was more than a warning our roads would be much safer.
I wonder if people aren't starting to use a looping camera when they drive. I saw one the other day where a guy was using one and the jerk in front of him backed into him and then was trying to shake him down. As soon as the guy told the perp he was taping it all was well and the jerk drove off. I would have waited for the police and then give them the camera. It probably wasn't the first time the guy did that.
iamike - that is not the case here. I have heard of more and more people installing dash cams in their vehicles, this woman doesnt have one installed (or at least its not a dash cam that caught this footage)
I think the point of this thread holds true though - watch out guys, you got people out there on the roads filming stuff with their cameras instead of watching where they are going
