OK. Time for new skins on the '04 XB12s. What suggestions do "ya'll" have? I've been running with Pilot Powers and love them but I need more than 3000-4000 miles between swaps. I want the grip but a little better longevity. Any reviews on the Pilot Road 2's or 3's? H E L P |

No personal experience with them, but PR2s will be the next set of rubber I put on the XT. Other than Froggy, I've never heard a bad review from those who run the PR2s. |

I'm on my 3rd set of PR2s on the Buell. First set got changed out a bit early right before a 2 week trip at about 12K just because I didn't know what to expect from them. The next set lasted me about 20K. Both the Triumphs are on them now too. You could say I'm satisfied with them. |

I was using Metzeler Roadtec Z6s on the 1125R. Unfortunately, I traded the bike before I got a chance to see how long they'd last but I can tell you, after spending a whole day on the track at NJMP's Thunderbolt Raceway with Jason Pridmore, they do NOT lack for grip. I also thought the handling felt a lot more "sprightly" than the stock Diablo Corsas too. As a sport touring tire, they should last a lot longer than a pure sport tire as well. I recommend them. |

Tire choice is like choosing underwear, what works for me may not work for you, and vice-versa. Experiment, try different stuff till you find what suits you best... |

Yep, Like underwear, now I don't want to try another person's tires. |

Unlike underwear, tires cost more than $12 a pair. |

This is an interesting comparison, but it doesn't really touch on the durability question. Really just focuses on performance. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/545/8285/Motorcycle- Article/2010-Street-Motorcycle-Tire-Comparison.asp x |

This is one of the many reviews that convinced me to try the tires I recommended: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/402/2793/Motorcycle- Article/Metzeler-Roadtec-Z6-Interact-Tire-Review.a spx |

I just bought some Bridgestone Battle Ax BT 023's. Others have had good things to say about them. They are the competitor tire to the PR2 and slightly cheaper. I will report back on how they work out when the ice is gone and I can ride again. |

Tire performance and life vary widely between different riders and different motorcycles. I've had good results from tires that were almost universally hated, and hated tires that others loved. I liked the way the D-616s worked on my '06 Uly, but others (many of whom I like and respect) hate them. I loved the way Avon Azaros worked on my 2000 M2, but hated the way they felt on my '06 Uly. I put RoadSmarts on both my '08 XT and my '07 Moto Guzzi Norge. They work well on the XT, but they suck on the Norge. I really liked the Pirelli Diablo Stradas I had on my Uly, but they stopped making them. I really liked the Continental Conti Force tires I tried on my Norge, but Continental stopped making them, as well. I've been using Conti Motions, and they're O.K., but I liked the Conti Force tires better. How you ride, and the roads you ride on have a lot to do with tire life. If you treat roads like race tracks, with a lot of hard acceleration, cornering and braking, then you're not going to get a lot of life from your tires. If you tend to flow with the road, your tires will last longer, but you won't have as fun if you're in a "racing" frame of mind. If you're into doing Smoke Shows, your tire life will really suck. |

The new CW had good things to say about Dunlop's new Roadsmart II's- I may have seen another favorable review a month or so ago. I'm currently running an Angel front (proudly purchased at HC '10 directly from EBR for cheep), and a Pilot 2CT rear- happy with both. |

Thanks, Boliver... that's what I was going for. My test on the track of the Roadtec Z6s convinced me I lost none of the traction or handling by going to a sport-touring tire. I never got the chance to see how long they'd last, though I assume they'd last longer than the OEM Diablo Corsas. Just don't know by how much. |

One more question for the masses. Anyone have any experience with DYNABEADS? |
