Just happened to run across the following from NASA:
many sources could produce very high energy gamma-rays which are absorbed and re-processed within the source. As a result, at the most extreme energies, we should see only those gamma-rays produced by relatively nearby sources. In addition, while we expect diffuse gamma-rays up to 1030 Hz, at energies beyond this the basic physics of particle interactions and gamma-ray production is less clear. There could be many surprises. Very interesting. |

One theory speculation of the origin of man is that we are the product of a natural, unshielded nuclear reactor. Just coincidence that our primate ancestors wandered around the area? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_nuclear_fissi on_reactor http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=a ncient-nuclear-reactor In the case of that NASA report, they are dealing with energies that alter how things work. Newton works fine in daily life, until things get too big, too small or too fast. Einstein's work takes over, until the boundaries get pushed even further. With Gamma rays at such high freqs, I wonder what percentage reaches the surface? One proposed mass extinction cycle is based on a Gamma ray beam spraying out from closer to the galactic core. When we line up with it... life gets hammered, hard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_ray |

"when we line up with it life gets hammered hard" Isn't that what's supposed to happen this year....earth and sun line up with the center of the galaxy??? |

Ferris, not to worry, it's when we, and an unknown gamma ray beam producer line up...with the center of the galaxy. It's probably some fast rotating black hole, or other object you don't want to be in the vicinity of, and seems to fire off a beam of death ( presumably in 2 directions ) in one axis, that we line up with when our galactic orbits line up. No worries though, we'll all be long gone by the next pass. Probably burn the life forms back to underground bacteria and deep ocean vent dwellers, again. No, if you want to worry, pick the Yellowstone Supervolcano, or the Canary Islands mega-slide, ( the wave scours all buildings on the East coast back to the Appalachians. ) or a man made Satan Bug. ( probably released by Greenies who saw "Life After People" too many times ) |

The gamma ray event is one of the periodics that's NOT over due. Unlike Supervolcano, Giant Meteorite/Comet strike, and magnetic core reversal. THOSE are due or overdue. |
