yeah, that's one thing I felt that could have been handled better last year. Not so much a plan, but pick one place as 'home base' for the day to pick up people to ride with or eat supper, and have it known in advance so that people on the road know where to go. |

BuellAtTheBuzzer, This event is for anyone who likes Buells, their friends, family, pets, whatever. SteeleEagle, Facebook, Twitter or something similar would be a good solution for those with smart phones. Volunteers with a smart phone could distribute their phone numbers to those with not-so-smart phones, and look stuff up on their behalf. ArCor, The home base idea works pretty well, too. Decidedly lower tech, but more fun in ways. Good ideas. Any more? |

Agree on the confusion factor. Set events schedules in stone and not allow a person or people to decide on another venue. Alpine was very accommodating. We can get a message board put in the lobby for example. Even if you're not staying there, it's close enough that you CAN stop in and check messages. |

I'm all for making Alpine the drop-in center, at least for the time most peeps are around East Troy. Maybe there is an analogous place in Elkhart Lake. |

125 Good thoughts there. Check and see if eBr would put a dry erase board outside their door? Or let one of us? |

@Slaughter: Maybe I should have said relatively responsible. @all: what's the itinerary for this like? I see talk about riding to East Troy, maybe tour EBR, ride to a bar, ride to Elkhart for superbike, ride home? is this 3 days? 5 days? I'm interested. Southern WI is where I grew up and haven't been back for a couple years. And it would be an opportunity to ride WI Hwy 33 East from La Crosse (great ride). |

You know the old joke about economists: If you place all the economists in the world end to end, they wouldn't reach a conclusion. HC makes no sense without paying a visit to the factory, even if it's a half dozen owners shivering in the rain. Lots will go to the races, some will stay in East Troy. I'm all about riding in S and SW WI - races, not so much. So I'd like to have a number of rides planned throughout the weekend. For example, Holy Hill on Thursday, someplace else Friday, Saturday, etc. Any ride suggestions or volunteers to lead a ride are welcome ! |

I think i'm with ya on the races Milt. I'd rather ride myself. WI Highway 33 from Wisconsin Dells to La Crosse is GREAT riding, but about a 2 hr trip from East Troy. 33 winds and weaves through rolling hills and a state park. I'd bet there are similar roads through Kettle Moraine, but I don't know them. I'm not so familiar with East, WI. I can show you the gay bars in Milwaukee, but that's about it. My experience is more S Central WI Janesville, Madison, Monroe and West. Lots of rolling farm land. |

Something to remember is that EB Racing is still terribly understaffed. If we have anything at their place, we should get it organized well in advance so that the impact on their time isn't too big. IF we do it more than 2 days ahead of the races, we MIGHT be able to get one of the racers to have a bike there maybe??? It'd be cool to have Geoff, Danny, Shawn ALL there for a few hours! |

+1 Slaughter. The people of Buell - Erik, Elves, Racers - have always an important part of Homecoming. By sheer determination and outrageous good fortune, EBR is really busy right now. Are you riding in, Slaughter? |

>>>EBR is really busy right now. That may be the understatement of the year . . . the upside is that amazing things are happening. There are a couple avenues we can go here. There won't be tours but we can arrange something that meets the needs of owners and is minimally intrusive to ongoing projects. In addition, if we decide (and I think it'd be fabulous) to invite/include Elflumni . . we had a Buell Alumni site that is a very good way to quickly get out information and help. The are a number of well qualified folks in the area capable of leading fabulous rides through the Kettle Moraine area. Dave Gess has taken me several times and it's spectacular. There will be other news . . .remain flexible. |

I expect the same level of disorganization this year as there was last year. When the 2010 Homecoming came together, there ended up being a bit of emotional fallout within the organization group. I don't know details as I was not directly involved. If anyone should step up to make a final decision on a schedule and events, I would nominate COURT because he is in communication with Erik. That said, I don't think last minute change of plans detracted from my experience at all last year. The person I was planning on camping with bailed out and I ended up with Matt and RD. I also got to spend some time with Rat at his place on the way home, who I really didn't know at all before I met his dogs... That being said, all the events I go to this year are contingent on two things... money and work. In a perfect world I would get a job offer tomorrow making exorbitant money with unlimited time off. The best I can hope for right now is 90% of what I used to make with a week off by the end of August. That being said, if anyone wants to step up to be a core organizer that is great. It helps to be in the vicinity of East Troy but it is not necessary. Expect disorganization, confusion and a lot of drunken butt sex jokes. |

123It looks like Milt has stepped up to take the blame for all the disorganization this year. Hopefully Court will help him disorganize it. It is going to be a fast and furious ride this year. }}}}}} |

I suspect it's going to be a GREAT year . . . I've been waiting for the "bad" one since the year of the big XR1200 intro . . . . ohhhhh . . the blasphemy the first year Buell put an Evolution motor in. Haven't been to a bad Homecoming yet. We'll have a stellar time . . |

If it does take place on Road America weekend again and we are able to meet at EBR again I sure hope that a 1190RS could be rolled out this year. Those of us that went to the track for the races got to see it but there were quite a few disappointed folks that were hoping to see one in person. Too bad about the tour not available again. Looking forward to Gus's and seeing some familiar ugly mugs. |

Even if we don't see a new 1190rs, I understand that we will have rr1000, serial #002 in attendance. Way cool, in my book. Is there any interest in something like a Dyno Shootout? A fellow BadWebber suggested it, and is willing to do the homework to set it up, providing there is some interest. |

There are lots of ideas being looked at seriously, but most are at the fact gathering stage. Rides are being planned. A BadWebber who has done it before is looking at setting up a dyno shootout. If there's interest, maybe that's an option. Court is working with EBR. I've been thinking about communications. How do we quickly tell all participants that plans have changed (think "Heavy weather approaching. Group picture time changed.") Twitter feed for techo twits? Cell tree for our friends with dumb phones? As you observed, even when completely disorganized, HC is a gas. This is your Homecoming. What should it look like ? |

You might want to get ahold of Steve Mackay. See if a buell homecoming website is something he may put up. He did a great job with it in 2010. |

I'm not sure I could make it out for this... but... For communication, even for those without smart phones, I think it's reasonable to expect at this point that they will be with or able to get in touch with someone who does, so private phone trees or what have you can be set up. There are places out there that will let you set up a free website and host it for free as well - you won't have your owm domain or anything, but rather something like buellhomecoming.weebly.com instead. Still works, and I know for a fact that weebly.com automatically formats their sites for use on mobile devices very nicely. You could set up a blog to announce events, changes, etc. That way no one has to join twitter or whatever and anyone can access it without an invite like a facebook group. I know weebly also has unlimimited uploads for photos, schedules if you want, etc. Just an idea. |

Thanks for the heads up xL1200r. I'll look into weebly.com as soon as I get the time and energy at the same time. I forgot all about the hassles of joining Facebook or becoming a Twit (or whatever Twitter users call themselves). |
