HD is too busy with the XR1200X and it's huge overall success! |

Rode the XR1200X..... it was no comparison to the CityX both bikes being free, and in the drive way... no contest - Buell. |

Cityslicker, and to think that the XR1200X is by far the best sport bike that Harley makes right now, but it's not even close to a Buell! I don't see Harley Davidson doing anything for at least another 10 or 12 years to try and bring the younger riders back to the brand. |

in 10 to 12 years.... todays youth will be ready for cruisers ! that is what they are banking on.... you will notice most of their successful styling bikes are from the icons rehashed of the 50's fatboy/heritage/springer classic - all throw backs they even go misty eyed nostalgic for the FXD with their red/white/blue 35th aniversary edition... (they totally blew the 5oth on the sporty missed it by leagues) |

That is IF cruisers are still kewl then.... A whole lot of H-D cruiser consumers are not necessarily motorcyclists, but participating in the fad. I not so sure the typical H-D cruiser or bagger if going to be forever the "bike to have". Nothing lasts forever, especially if it never evolves.... |

in 10 to 12 years.... todays youth will be ready for cruisers ! Ugh. Cruisers. Why, yes. I would like to go from a 420lb bike with ~150hp to a 650lb bike with 80hp. And from sharp, crisp handling to something that rides & corners like my recliner with emergency handling to match. When I get "too old" for sportbikes (not that my 1125R really is terribly aggressive, seating-wise), I'll probably go to something in the sport touring or dual sport realm. BMW makes some good options, a Ulysses would be a great option, and Triumph has some AMAZING motorcycles. In theory, I'd be the ideal target audience for Harley to go after. 30, making good coin, lots of disposable income, rides a lot. And Harley doesn't make a single motorcycle I'd want to spend money on. The V-Rod is too heavy to be a properly quick motorcycle (in addition to the clamshell seating position being terrible for any distance), the XR1200X is the least-bad motorcycle they make but still pales in comparison to anyone else's bikes, and everything else is more style than function. I'm not likely to be contributing to their successes. |
