I have a 2005 XB12 here that came in with running issues. Noticed the TP reading jumps around while idling. After determining it is not a bad sensor--tried 2 more--or an ECU issue--tried known good one-- I checked the 5 volt signal from the ecu at pin #1 on grey connector and running it goes up to 6.3 volts. Can someone see if another bike is same. Wish I had another runner here, but NO!! |

Bad ground connection maybe? Those have been known to cause weird running issues on XB's. Pull any ground-to-frame connections, file the paint off the boss on the frame, reinstall with a star washer under the screw and no Locktite. |

Check the relays, mine had probs cutting out & so forth, turned out to be a dodgy relay, & I know of others that have had the same thing happen. |

I second the ground idea. |

More info please. What are the running issues? Did you do a clean TPS reset? Sometimes if it needs a reset, the reading can fluctuate. |

persistent bad grounds were the reason I sold mine. |

Grounds all checked, TP reset multiple times, all with same result. This is an odd one, never seen the TP reading dance all around like this, and the odd thing is at wide open throttle it sees 100% at 4.93 volts, over 4.93-5 volts it does a nosedive to 13.3, then back to 100--then back to 13.3. Really odd. |

It may be a side effect of that alien spacecraft you have buried in the back yard. Have you checked all the connections to the ecm & the sensors? |

check your datalink connector. also, have the ground straps been off the engine? If the engine itself isn't properly grounded it can cause wonky readings... |

Readings taken engine shut down? the signal dropping off like that sounds sortal like a bad potentiameter, I assume that you can get to enough wiring to wiggle the harness at each connector a potential problem exists for loose or broken wires, if the tps circuit is like the tube frame bikes the tps shares a power and ground line with the engine position sensor so at minimum there are 3 connectors in the system, tps, cps, ecm btw how was the tps proved good?
