I know I'm late to the party but I am interested in finding out a few things about the early Buells, especially the RW 750 Road Warrior, RR 1000 Battletwin, RR 1200 Battletwin, RS 1200 and 1205 Westwind, and the RSS Westwind. Does anyone know how many were made? What were the buying prices? How many are still around today? What are they worth today? What are their strong points and weak points? Same questions for something like the XBRR. I need Court and Dave's book but unfortunately I don't have one. Anyone interested in selling me a copy? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

I think you can still get the book (which is awesome!) Online... and there was a thread here about a poster that was made around the time of the shutdown that had alot of stats as well! |

Build numbers are easy to verify, so I'll go off of memory on what I can recall. There were only 2 RW750s made. Both survive (I think?). The engine made a ton of power but was very "on or off" in it's power band. Every Buell until 2002 (aside from the blast) can trace lineage back to the RW750 frame. 50 RR1000s built using an old stock of XR1000 engines. I'm not sure how many of the other models were built - I know there were very few RSS models compared to the RS models. In all, there were only 440 (or there abouts) Buell's built before HD bought stake in the company starting with the S2. As far as worth, an RW is going to priceless if one ever even comes on the market. RS models can be anywhere from a few thousand to over $10k depending on condition and documentation. An RSS is worth roughly the same but it more desirable. I don't think I've ever seen an RR model ever advertised for less than $10-12k, and I'd imagine an XR-powered model would go for considerably more. I'm sure other can provide more accurate info. |

RW 750 2 RR1000 51 RR1200 59 RS1200 208 RSS1200 98 Total 418 These are the figures from the Fuel center fold from 2008 I think the difference to make the total about 440 was made up of Kit bikes. I may be wrong but I think the Kit bikes were made to get around California EPA requirements. |

As for the XBRR, there are several brand new ones still sitting in dealerships for sale. Including one close by (Greensboro HD) Interesting thread, looking forward to more updates |

I've seen some tallish current pricing for the RR1000 and RR1200 Battle Twins on the internet but it's the internet after all so difficult to trust. The build quantities are lower then I had imaged which make these bikes not only unique but in my mind, rare. I read there were only 50 XBRR made but I have no way to verify that. I also read that one of the RW750 Road Warriors was rebuilt and given to Erik as a surprise gift but I have no way to confirm that either. If true, that bike would be, I think, invaluable. Of course this is all old hat for many of you but I find it interesting stuff. |

I also read that one of the RW750 Road Warriors was rebuilt and given to Erik as a surprise gift Yup we did that, I played a very small role in this but am very proud it got done. It is technically an RW850 as the motor came out of a SCCA D-sports racer and is one of the engines Erik sold to car racers |

"Yup we did that, I played a very small role in this but am very proud it got done". I had to think about that a minute. That gift of friendship and respect is even more rare than the bike. Blows me away. This Buell thing is a deep deep river. |
