I came in this morning with an email on my desk. Has anyone heard anything about this? It's out there but you have to dig for most of it. I can't blame the President, He's too busy having party's.... Just when you think you've heard it all...... "Any president whose actions so consistently refute his own words must have deep contempt for the intelligence of the American public." The Obama administration told U.S. owned Hawker Beechcraft earlier this week they are being excluded from bidding on the US Air Force contract for a light attack aircraft. That leaves Brazilian owned Embraer as the likely recipient of the lucrative deal. I found this one hard to believe so I did a little research. It was tough because this was completely ignored by the main stream media. The information is out there on several conservative sites. Please see the two articles linked below. This is a double slap in the face of the United States. At a time when jobs, the economy, and security are the most critical priorities for our country, the Obama administration decides to send a defense contract to a foreign owned company. This has to be the stupidest thing this administration has done to date. This is not just a dumb decision, it is a perfect example of why this president is such a poor leader. He talks about wanting jobs. He says we need to force companies to repatriate billions of dollars that Americans keep overseas. He wants to raise taxes so he can spend billions on stimulus that does nothing to stimulate anything. And when it’s time to act, he sends our tax dollars overseas at the expense of American jobs and income for an American company. This is nothing more than a Chicago-style political pay back; but this time it is at the expense of our national security. How much more damage will Obama be allowed to do in the next 14 months? One of the lead stories in the media this week blasted congress for insider trading. If this contract goes to Embraer it will be a huge pay off to another George Soros company. When will the 4th estate do it’s constitutionally protected job and expose the real obama to the American people? Please pass these articles to your friends to insure they get the information lacking from so much of today’s liberal press. I think I'm a little late on getting this email. But this is the first I have heard of it myself. |

http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/hawker.asp Snopes rates the Hawker-Beechcraft claim "Undetermined". |

It's valid. Google US Air Force contract. There is a lawsuit now. |

It's pretty simple really. The main enemy of the United States is the Commander in Chief. As such he is doing everything possible to undermine the US military. I would say he has been extremely effective. |

How in the heck does the president get to choose defense contractors? I have a lot of family work or worked at Beechcraft. |

Please read the Snopes article. The Air Force's position is that Hawker-Beechcraft was deficient plus they missed their deadlines for appeal. It is doubtful that there is an Obama led conspiracy here. Spreading lies and half truths only causes undecided people to sympathy for President Zero. Keep your powder dry. |

PLEASE as Reindog said above, research your thoughts/fears - ESPECIALLY those that hit your email inbox. While we may be on the same page in wanting to see our Country's defense maintained, our Country's economy improved but simply copying and pasting a poorly-researched paranoid rant does NOTHING except make us all look loonier than we really are. These rants that hit our inboxes ALWAYS smell the same and with a couple of key words, take no more than 5 minutes to research. Those of us who work in "the business" have read about the Hawker/Beechcraft failure. Shame but is the way it is. |

Raindog, Slaughter, Thanks!! I did not get my chance to do a thorough look at what it was. I normally don't post these because of the erroneous information that can be dug up. I went to the Wichita Eagle, did the Google news search on it, and got the Lawsuit posting. It was starting look like, when I was going though the Google search, that it was going to be another tanker fiasco... |

P: No worries. I encourage everyone to check out www.snopes.com before posting partisan issues as it is a tool for avoiding embarrassment. I know from first hand experience Snopes is highly entertaining to explore and it always attempts to impartially uncover the facts (or untruths) about almost any issue. |

I submit bids for a living. If your proposal is vague, contains "multiple deficiencies" or does not follow the specifications, it is deemed non-responsive and gets shitcanned. Sounds like somebody needs to get their act together if they plan on staying in business (I assume they aren't too big to fail). |

The A29 is a proven Brazilian design being built in the US re-employing those who've lost their jobs by the downsizing of the space program, by a privately owned US company (Sierra Nevada Corp.) The AT6 is a modified experimental Swiss design that would've been built in the US by a company owned by a Canadian Corp (Onex,) and Goldman Sachs, one of Obama's largest corporate donors. How is this some conspiracy theory again? The two planes had the chance to fly off against each other. Everything I've read said the A29 was the more capable aircraft. The contract was supposed to be decided this past summer but was delayed by congressmen from Kansas because the AT6 wasn't ready yet. The Navy wanted to buy A29s a couple years ago but they couldn't get the funding from congressmen from Kansas because the AT6 wasn't ready yet. The T6 program had huge cost overruns. The A29 is ready to purchase out of the box on a fixed price basis. The AT6 is a prototype. The contract specified an existing design. If the AT6 had won would there be right wing conspiracy theories about Goldman Sachs running the show buying into a prototype derived from a program with huge overruns when a cheaper proven design was ready to go? I'm not defending Obama, I just don't think he has anything to do with this. The only part I don't like is why does the US with all our history of making great aircraft have to use Swiss or Brazilian designs, not matter how modified they may be? |

It is the same ilk and air that would allow the new KC-135 Tanker to go to the French Air Bus.... It sounds like somebody in the procurement management division is none too keen on domestic entrants. Its ok, the President is all about actually replacing and removing pilots from the pit at all - I am surprise that it is not a new drone contract... and that the build has not been farmed out to Iran or China. .... Just my opinion of the guy at 1600; I cannot remember a more hostile and anti American chap - much less one in CHARGE. wtf. |

The only part I don't like is why does the US with all our history of making great aircraft have to use Swiss or Brazilian designs, not matter how modified they may be? Why reinvent the wheel if you don't have to? It saves money & time to adapt an existing design that already meets your requirements, and these days we need our government to save money & time. Here's the GAO's take on the issue: http://www.gao.gov/decisions/bidpro/406170.htm The lesson: mind your paperwork, folks. |

Like the PA48? Doesn't get much more American than that, and its an adaptation of heavily battle proven design. The 60's F-51D version was also proven down in South America performing the same role the A29 does today. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piper_PA-48_Enforcer Aircraft of comparable role, configuration and era * Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano * Pilatus PC-9 (base design for T6) |
