Some of you may be interested in this as a follow up to the Reno crash that killed 11 people last year: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-01- 10/air-show-safety/52479000/1 |

There will always be collateral damage for racing. It is a sport. The next step in air racing will be televised races. That will take all the fun out of it. Kind of like watching off shore boat racing..

Years ago they were. It's better than nothing if you can't be there. The Red Bull air races are the only ones I've seen televised as of late. |

From what i've heard around here(Carson City,NV),everyone thats been affected by all of it still want the event to go on.It would be a big blow to the racing community, airplane enthusiasts and those involved if it was ended. They have been talking/discussing of the air show/air races differentiation of maybe just an air show as opposed to air races. That would alter the "venue".They have all the rules/guidelines in place. Its just that what happened was one of those variables that can come up...it was "a part" of what could/can/did happen....most involved, being the people that officiate, put on, and participate in this type of event "know" that is a possibility, yet they come to this venue because they have a driving passion and love for it as do so many spectators. They all want this to continue even after what took place.Lt |
