I might have the opportunity to buy a 2003 KTM LC4 for $1,200 with around 4,000 miles. I was thinking of doing some simple maintenance, cleaning it up, and selling it in the spring. Kind of like a stock trader having cash to wait out the position and the margin calls. This guy needs cash fast, the bike needs a little love and I don't need the cash. It needs brake pads. I would do an oil change, try to swap the red for orange plastics, replace chain/sprox, clutch cable, and a few other items. I'm not as well versed on KTMs as Buells so I was looking for some input. Think the price is ok? Any major issues to look for? Thanks for any tips. |

If you're talking about a KTM 640 Adventure then you got a good deal and should be able to flip if for some extra cash. Even the enduro model is worth more than the asking price. All KTM's come with quality suspension parts. The LC4 is a little buzzy. Pre-2004 had known main bearing issues. Probably should check the valve clearances too. All-in-all it shouldn't be hard to improve on your initial $1200 investment. |

Seems to be a good price if the engine doesn't have the issues Strokizator warned about. I've been looking for a big bore dual-sport so might be interested when you're ready to sell it - maybe even as is. I know you're in it for a profit, but if you want to turn it fast LMK. |
