Since this concerns an 1125CR, and a Ulysses...I posted here. Thinking about going HID for the low beams. Mainly on the CR, to save watts for other accessories. Are they both H7? The factory part numbers are less than helpful. But if they're the same, I'll get a "pair kit" from DDM...and put the second one in the Ulysses. y'know, since I need to get myself something for Christmas... |

Correct, CR and XB Lightning/Uly are H7 for high and low. |

you won't be saving any watts. A 35 watt kit is equal to your stock low beam and a 55 watt kit generally equal toa high beam, although with the CR using 2 H7s that's not the case. |

Running wattage is supposed to be less on HID though...yes? I'm not talking "lighting wattage", but electrical current draw wattage...it is my understanding that once the ignition phase is over, a 35w HID light puts out as much visible light as a 55w halogen bulb (if not more), while using less power to do it. If I can save 20 watts of consumption in the electrical system, that frees up those 20 watts for things like my heated jacket liner (which I want to say is around 25) and heated gloves (5ish, I think). It isn't an even trade...but its 20 watts in the right direction. Right now, I can run either my jacket/glove combo, OR my heated grips, and maintain good charging. If I turn all three on...things start to drop. Getting 20 watts (or more) freed up would definitely help out. |

But my main question is can I order one of the "pair kits" from DDM, and still have a use for the second setup. And it looks like yes, I can. The Uly charging system doesn't even break a sweat running gloves, grips, jacket, GPS, cell phone charger, and even my 55w driving lights unless I let it idle too long with everything on. I'm not worried about power consumption there...but if I can get an HID for more light, at a cheap price because its a part of a pair? I'll go for it |

the 35/55w thing is a bit misleading, as that is only the bulbs power consumption. The ballast uses some too. You don't save that much with 35w HIDs, and the 55w units consume more power than the stock bulbs. |

Guess I'll have to do some tests...to see how much / if any wattage is saved with a 35w HID. 'cause I don't have anything else to worry about these days... |
