I just have my bike registered with them and never bother to carry the I-Pass. They take a picture and charge my I-Pass based on my plate #. Never a problem. The price is getting pretty steep for the privilege of sitting in heavy traffic though. |

They did the same thing in Maryland. You know, all the governors get together at various functions and dream up this s***. It has nothing to do with roads and everything to do with filling budget gaps |

That picture doesn't even make any sense, how can rubber contacting plastic cause sparks? Also, how come the sparks are coming out the back instead of forward? Must be fake. |

New tolls go into effect Jan 1st, 2012. The rates are almost double and twice that if you don't have I-Pass I've always thought that they should put on the state signs that are posted when you enter the state should read: Welcome to Illinois, now get your money out. Land of Lincoln, be sure to bring plenty of Lincolns, because it's going to cost you traveling through this state. |

Confirms why I hate going to Chicago for any reason. I still think that they should put toll booths on all south wisconsin border roads and charge every vehicle with Ill. plates $25 to get into wisconsin. This would cover the clean-up fees from all the trash Ill. folks leave here.............oh, sorry I forgot, the State Patrol pulls them over and gets that fee about 1/4 mile after they get here. $13.00 cash toll to take the Verrazano Narrows Bridge to go to Staten Island. $12.00 to cross under the Hudson from Jersey into NYC. All of the above are only in effect one way, though. If they squeeze the people hard enough and long enough, there will be a breaking point. You have to look at this as foolish, short-sighted measures that will only make things tougher for folks who are already struggling. Raising taxes and tolls is going to fix us up? Really? When you realize that if Bill Gates were to give his entire fortune to the US government, it would fund them for a total of fifteen minutes, you see the proportion of the problem, and why tax and toll hikes are only going to irritate people who are already mad as hell. We need a bigger fix. |

Court your blessings . . . I pay a minimum of $28 per day in tolls. GOOD HEAVENS! I hope that gets factored into the cost of the job being done. I avoid going to Chicago as often as possible. Sometimes, I don't have a choice, and gots ta do what I gots ta do. Theres a few reasons I moved over the border to WI 13 years ago. I still have a shop in IL, but that may change with the new tax breaks for companies that move from IL to WI..............if it's worth it. It is now almost cheaper to take the Metra from the suburbs than to brave the tollway. |

That pic is demonstrative of weight anti-centralization... HAS to be at least 2 photoshop elements there. Unless the rear shock was replaced by a strut, NO WAY there'd be that much rear clearance. Yeesh! For more on fees/fines/graft, check out the "sting" thread I put up... |

My "normal" day includes a couple Brooklyn Battery Tunnel . . . a couple Henry Hudson Bridge and a Verrazano Bridge . . many days include an over the Tap and back trip to the Spring Valley Engineering Center. The upside is that the F-150 was getting tanked 3 times a week and I couldn't keep track of the mileage since the pump shuts off at $100 . . .the new Focus gets filled 2X/wk at something like $30 a crack . . it, as my wife pointed out, is like a "free car after the 8th day of a month". The tolls are the one thing I can't control and the fun part is that, starting 1/10/2012 I've been assigned to a new $1B General Electric project about a stones throw from my house . . the only thing crossing the water will be the new towers I have to put on each side. Thinking about bicycling to work. |
