I've just emerged from the stone age and got a "smart" phone. (Samsung Skyrocket) This thing is crazy. I'm not into the games so much, but what are the best/coolest/most useful apps out there? |

PassDroid - It stores usernames and passwords... it's a lifesaver! PDANet - It turns your phone into a modem for a laptop. Freakin' awesome! Worth buying the full version. Note Everything - I use this to record text and voice notes. Also has a basic drawing function. There's plenty more but those are the top 3. |

NavFree is pretty neat good for the price. Not the best searching, but the routing and display is pretty good, and it REALLY knows where all the roads are. I like the direction it's going as well. We shouldn't have to keep paying so much for map data now that GPS's are such a huge commodity. |

Ziptab, I felt the same way until I played around with one. There are a million uses for one of these things. Has anyone tried to put ECM Spy on one of these things? |

I've been playing around with Clinometer. (Thanks Toona)Bad news. There is NOTHING plumb OR level in my entire house. That Five Guys app may be used way more often than needed. (Message edited by ulynut on December 04, 2011) |

I must be a cave man.......... What's this about smart phones recording all key strokes? Seems that would take a HUGE amount of space to store trillions of bits every minute of the day. |

If you use instant messengers, Trillian is a must have. Also, get the Amazon App Store, every day they give away one paid app for free. Usually its crap, but sometimes they have something good, like a $20 Office Suite. Today is a good time killing Airport Mania game. I use a program called My Tracks, it sucks your battery like a vampire but it records everywhere you go, so you can keep track if where you have ridden and export to google maps and such. Also, another must have, to see if your phone has that Carrier IQ crap that can log everything you do, download Voodoo Carrier IQ detector. https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectv oodoo.simplecarrieriqdetector&feature=search_resul t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm9yZy5wcm9qZWN0dm9vZG9vLnNpb XBsZWNhcnJpZXJpcWRldGVjdG9yIl0. |

Is there an app that will tell my wife that I'm still at work when I'm really in the pub? I reckon it'd more useful than one that tells her where I've been. |

Yes. I have Google latitude, it lets my friends and family see where I am on a map. I can override it and say I'm in Canada if i desired. |

Number Guru Use the contact group for telemarketers option. Couple that with a phone blacklist app, and none of the hundreds of numbers in that list can call you. |

SoundHound, it is a great app that lets you figure out what song is playing similar to Shazam, except it is totally free with no limitations. They have a paid version with a few more features and ad free, it is currently on sale for 10 cents, worth picking up! https://market.android.com/details?id=com.melodis. midomiMusicIdentifier&feature=apps_timed_promotion |

Well I thought it was just me that it didn't like! Their iOS and WebOS variants are fantastic, the Android variant is inexcusable. |
