Thought we'd try something different this year, smoked turkey. Ordered a smokenator, which turns a weber charcoal grill into a smoker. After one hour, breast side down for one more hour, then flip it over the rest of the cooking time.

Fill me in on the Smokenator deal? I've turned my Weber Kettle grill into a smoker using Weber accessories - they sell little pockets to put charcoal or wood and keep it off to the side, then a grill grate that hinges on the sides to access the charcoal/wood easily. Looks yummy!

No just water, discolored by the smoke.

No, no, no! You've done it all wrong! I hate to see this happen to good people. I can help you out though. Pack the result up in a refrigerated box and overnight it to me. I'll analyze and let you know the corrected procedure. Include a nice bottle of Chardonnay as payment for my expert services. Then forever call me "friend."

7 hrs down. I pulled the water pan to help bring the temp up to finish the cooking.

Did you baste it at all?
Badlionsfan
Posted on Saturday, November 26, 2011 - 12:13 am:
No basting. The combination of low heat (around 230) an the water pan kept it moist.

Yes, I ordered the 4lb roll from Cajun Grocer. http://www.cajungrocer.com/fresh-foods-holiday-dis hes-turducken-c-1_15_24.html Not cheap; but worth it to try.

Good job on not making a mess of the skin when you flip it back right-side up. Wanna-gotta-try.

Pwn- that episode was on yesterday afternoon, I'd forgotten how completely sick the whole thing was... my favorite scene was when they took a bat to the surfin' bird record in the street...
